"If I needed to be in Hale for any reason in the future, I'd definitely stay here again. The owners live very near, and are absolutely lovely people. The house was very clean and tidy, and the garden is large, fully enclosed (great if you have a dog!) and lovely. As far as areas for improvement, I just have a few comments: 1. less perfumed spray throughout the house - it was overpowering - ESPECIALLY on the bed (I think the bedding was sprayed, and it was way too strong for me). 2. The house was lovely and warm, but the master bedroom is quite cold (not surprising for a 300 year old cottage!). I'd recommend having some extra heavy blankets available, rather than just the one, very thin one in the closet. Luckily, I wasn't using the 2nd bedroom, so I was able to use one of the duvets in that room on my bed. 3. Having a cafetiere available for people who like "real coffee" would be great. They're small, cheap, and would be a welcome addition. ;-)Other than those three, minor things, it was a truly lovely cottage and a good experience. Kudos to the owners!"

"Lovely! We, (My Husband & I) needed a place to live whilst our own place was being renovated. Luckily, we found this place. The Barn is very spacious which was ideal for us as we had more than just luggage with us. It was very clean, the bed and pillows were extremely comfortable and we had everything else we needed including good wifiTo be honest, we pretty much knew what amenities were around here, as we’re from the area. That said, anybody visiting here should know that this place is very close to anywhere you might want to visit. You’ll be ideally located for exploring North Wales, Cheshire the Wirral and Liverpool Also, Capenhurst railway station is 5 minutes drive away (goes to Chester and Liverpool).Janice & Mike are very accommodating and fully understand what travellers need and their accommodation offering fulfils that completely.Totally recommended!!Wendy"

"Very easy to get to..don’t be put off by the busy looking road junction and motorway exit the traffic systems in place give you plenty of time to get in the right lanes....A short trip to Chester Zoo ( worth a visit) If travelling to Chester use the park and ride at the Zoo (easy and cheap)Back to the barn. WiFi fast, smart tv and Bose sound system in bedroom! Some road noise from the M56 if you leave the velux windows open but easily remedied by shutting! Very good shower, bed a little uncomfortable ( maybe my ancient bones have got use to my own bed?)A very calming place with a balcony view over the owners beautiful water gardens. All in all a very pleasant place to stay"

"A lovely spacious property in a quiet location.Welcoming and helpful, but unintrusive owners... perfect.Great walks from the doorstep or in the Delamere Forest which is just a few miles away.White Lion pub is a 10 minute walk, serving good food at very reasonable prices.Great for the two of us, but back to back sofas and only one toilet (in the bathroom) would put us off booking for 4.... although others I am sure would work around this. The outdoor space is great, sheltered and covered, so we were able to lunch outside even on days when the temperature was only 10 or 12C."

"Stayed for 4 nights on second morning woke to bad drains smell in on suite bedroom coming from shower room. had to use other bedroom for remainder of holiday. On first use of the pool the water was really warm but became cooler each day we used it, this maybe was because the weather was freezing and they would open doors and windows, so the poolhouse, changing rooms and conservatory were freezing cold, when asked why they said it was because of condensation. We also found the sofa to be uncomfortable. Cottage was clean and beds comfortable. Generous welcome pack"
