"The cottage is lovely, it is in a great location; secluded, yet not too far from Newport. Without cars passing directly by, it is nice and quiet. The lounge is spacious and the kitchen large enough to sit comfortably during dinner and breakfast. The pond near the front door is a great feature, and waking up to birds singing in the trees and shrubs around the estate is amazing. However, we also found a few things that could use a bit of repair or and upgrade. Bathroom• The faucet of the washing basin is difficult to operate and sometimes does not, or only after fiddling a bit with it, close properly. It felt as if it was in dire need of replacing. We used the bath faucet to wash our hands upstairs…• Speaking of the bathtub: the bath is leaking. There was water leaking out from beneath the bathtub.• If you are taller than 1.85 meters (6’2”), the shower head is too low.• The mechanical vents are a tad dusty and cobwebby. Otherwise, the bathroom is clean. Kitchen• Although nice and large, it lacks proper lighting (e.g. underneath the cupboards to light the worktop). • The floor is nice, but a bit uneven. • No bin liners.• Also: only one dishwasher tablet? Toilet downstairs• Mechanical ventilation is rather noisy and rattles a lot. • The ‘room’ is a tad cramped. Lounge• Nice touch to provide some games, but they are incomplete (for example missing dice). • DVD remote does not work. So, although it is possible to watch DVDs, it is a hit and miss experience. • One of the three remotes (for two appliances) is missing batteries. • Wi-Fi is rather slow.We wanted to email these remarks to the owners, but the email address can only be found in the folder in the lounge and we forgot to write it down…"

"Lovely light airy open plan eco house.Practical things which could be acted on to make it even better - 1 Toilets didn't flush properly. Water constantly trickling through so took hours to refill after use. Awkward when whole party trying to leave together. Please sort the toilets out!2 Recycling instructions - there were none, which for an eco pod which makes much of its green credentials is poor. There was one green wheely bin - no information about whether this was for glass and cans, or paper and cardboard, or all together, and whether waste should be presented separated out or commingled. No food waste bin at all. Where does the residual waste go? When are collections? No excuse for an eco pod not providing recycling instructions.3 Provide better quality loo roll. The starter set of one roll per bathroom provided was one ply which is cheap, and the eco pods are not. If it's recycled then say so. If not then splash out on the sort of quality people usually buy at home. 4 The children were uncomfortable about sitting on the balcony because of the peacock poo. Could this be cleaned up more often? The boats - the pedals don't work well on the pedalled, put us off this year."

"We were a family of Grandparents, parents and two boys ages 7 & 5. We loved the house and the garden. We were blessed with great weather and the garden was used a lot. The boys - and their cousins when they joined us loved the tree house and all the games in the summer house. The house is very well equipped and was lovely and clean. It was a nice touch to leave a bottle of Little Thatch wine for us and we appreciated the milk too. The location of the downstairs bedroom is ideal for grandparents as it's so far away from the rest of the house and the shower room is right next door. It is a little creaky as you would expect in such an old house so you do tend to hear the floor boards creaking a bit. As other people have commented in the visitors book, it isn't really suitable for 8 people - very comfortable for 6 - not only is no bedding provided for the sofa bed there wouldn't be enough comfortable seating in the sitting room That said we had a fantastic stay and would not hesitate to recommend it to others. Plenty of good eating places close by and fabulous beaches too."

"We feel that having stayed at other cottage Bagels set was expensive. The kitchen area was so small that you could not stand plates up to drain no work tops. There was a very large 3 seater sofa bed that was very uncomfortable to sit on and took up so much room. The TV had only 4 channels and kept losing signal. The place is not dog friendly as you could not let dog out in garden as there were no fencing and no grass the garden furniture you could not sit on. When leaving the cottage in car I had to get out cross the road and wave when it was safe to drive out. When sitting at the bench to eat you felt like you were back at school looking at a blank wall. I would use welcome email cottages again but would want more information about the place as it was a bad experience for us and our dog who was not allowed on chairs on bed but there was no place he could go."

"Lovely house, light and sunny. Very well fitted out with everything that you need down to the clothes pegs for the washing line! Everything clean and in good condition. An excellent place to stay.Very good local new large Co-op supermarket with Island produce made catering easy. We had mixed weather including violent winds but still managed four beach trips for the children. Tapnell Farm Park close by kept two small children, one with autism, totally engrossed for 6 hours on a rainy day inside barns with go carts, zip wires, face painting, animal petting, story telling, a huge duplo room, climbing frames, etc. All for £50. Fort Victoria has a series of excellent small attractions for children including a planetarium and an interactive history exhibition."
