"Wonderful holiday in idyllic location with exceptional scenery. Best time of year to go. The property was perfect; exceptionally clean with top of the range facilities. The property was very comfortable and spacious. Extremely dog friendly with secure garden. Lots of areas locally to walk. Located on A592 but could not tell from property regarding noise. The master bedroom upstairs was spacious with beautiful furnishings and TV and view out to the lake. 15 minute walk to Bowness taking the local road just off the A592 with no traffic and few persons. Booths supermarket is so handy in Windermere. This property is ideal for those who want to not use their car; we used ferry, bus and train during the week and got out and about across the Lake District. The kitchen was so well equipped with all that you would need. Dining room looks good in the photos but is much better as the ceiling is vaulted and in the evening provided a wonderful outlook in the dark clear skies; one evening the full moon lit up the dark sky with beautiful stars and the light shining off Lake Windermere. Would definitely recommend. Storrs Hall hotel is just nearby with fantastic views out on Lake Windermere and lovely walks in the woods and out to the lakeside Temple. Finally there was a wonderful welcome pack from the owners including a delicious cake, bottle of wine, dog treats et al"

"One thing that always surprises me is how some people use Trip Advisor. A previous review on this property is more than a little incorrect and one wonders what it would take to please certain people (Nick M). Brantfell Lodge is a substantial 3 bedroomed property in a perfect location. It is within yards of Bowness and an easy 5 minute stroll to the shops, pubs and restaurants. Parking is simple on this property with plenty of room for several cars although I will agree that you need to turn left out on to the road because the road is busy. The Lodge is extremely well equiped with everything a family could possibly need for a very comfortable stay. The loft conversion does have low beams but this is standard with most conversions and for those people with eyes it is never a problem. However, i'm being picky here the TV in the loft needs upgrading and each bedroom would benefit from a tv in such a high standard home. It was advertised as a 3 bathroom property but only has 2 so some sharing will be needed. I was also a little disappointed to find no Sky Tv, ideal for rainy nights. The owner was lovely and popped along to say hello. I would definitely stay again."

"This is the second time we have stayed at Dell Cottage and we have really enjoyed both our stays. The cottage itself is lovely and very well presented. The new bathroom and toilet has made a big difference. All the neccesessities such as tea, coffee, biscuits etc had been left for us and after a mishap with the key the owners were very helpful and popped straight over to help us which was greatly appreciated. Unfortunately since our last stay the local village shop has closed so the only thing i would mention is that it is about 3 miles to the nearest shop in hawkshead but if you plan in advance it certainly isnt a deal breaker. The cottage is in a great location in a quiet part of the lake district with lots of great walks nearby. We ate at both the local pubs the cuckoo brow and the tower bank arms which were both excellent. We will most certainly be visiting again."

"We could have done with better description of the whereabouts of the cottage from the Sykes office. We walked around looking for the place for over an hour and had to make 3 calls back to the office (one went to head office, where the girl had no local knowledge, one was unanswered and on the third we were given a description of how to get to the apartment). Simple directions like - it’s above the Mere gallery, go up the alley between that and the sports shop and it’s directly on the left -would have saved a lot of trouble as it wasn’t apparent from the main road where the apartment was. Once we eventually got in, we were very happy with the apartment. It was a good size and very comfortable with all the home comforts. All the local amenities were within a short walk away. We will definitely stay here again."

"Brantfell Lodge is a wonderful holiday home in a fantastic location within easy walking distance to Bowness. The owner visits when you arrive and is very welcoming. The driveway, although tricky to exit, is quite manageable for turning the car around, and our car is a large estate. The only drawback which isn't mentioned on their website is that the garden is accessed via steps and has an unfenced drop of approx 4 ft onto the patio area, also there are gaps in the conifers which lead to another drop next to the road. This wouldn't cause any problems for most people however could be dangerous for anyone with a toddler or dog. We kept our dog on the lead when in the garden due to this problem. Apart from that, this is actually a really dog friendly home, All in all, a very lovely property."
