    Holiday Cottages in Rhayader

Rhayader, or Rhaedr Gwy in Welsh, means "waterfall on the Wye" and it certainly lives up to its name. Just 20 miles from the source of the River Wye, Rhayader is home to impressive dams and reservoirs and is aptly nicknamed "the outdoor capital of Wales". A busy historic market town, Rhayader has long been a vital hub for the surrounding area. The clock tower at the town's heart is considered the midway point between north and south Wales, used in the 19th century as a pivotal staging post on the coachways.

There’s also an amazing variety of great places to eat and drink, several cycling routes out to the surrounding countryside and a walking route along the river. Rhayader is still famous today for its Welsh Royal Crystal glass making —take a workshop while there to learn this heritage craft. Cosy up in one of our stone cottages after all that exploring, or enjoy a bit of glamping in a shepherd’s hut. We’ve got lots of dog-friendly accommodations too, so Fido can explore with you.

At Snaptrip we have thousands of holiday cottages listed throughout the UK, all backed by our best price guarantee. Whether you're looking for a shepherd's hut, cottage or converted stable, we're sure you'll find the perfect place for a stay in Rhayader. Can't decide? What our customers say about their holidays

    • Gemma - Verified booking

We had a fantastic holiday at No.

1 Beacon View Barn in July. It’s in an idyllic spot, where the only noise you can hear is the occasional sheep bleating & the view is just stunning from the front of the property. The barn is beautifully decorated, with comfy seating, big wardrobes, high ceilings and a great rainfall shower. The kitchen was really well equipped (better than ours at home I think!) & the welcome basket with prosecco, eggs and dog treats was a lovely touch. The garden is safely enclosed which was great for our dog – she loved sitting on the patio staring at the sheep in the fields. Lin & James (the owners) came & introduced themselves & made sure we knew how to contact them if needed. They’re very friendly & have lots of advice about places to walk & eat which is great if you don’t know the area – there is also a good supply of maps and tourist attraction leaflets in the barn. There are some good walks you can do from the doorstep and it’s only a short drive to some nice towns & pubs. We had a great time exploring during the days, then relaxing in the hot tub sipping wine in the evenings looking at the view. We only stayed for a week but felt so relaxed and recharged by the time we headed home, we’re already starting to plan our next visit!

Cannot praise the place enough, all you need to bring with you is yourselves, food and cloths, literally.

The Cottage and garden were spotless, Lin, the lady who runs the places was so helpful and could not do enough for us, and what’s more she is happy to deal with anything you want or require at any time day or night. The WiFi is limited to 25Gb for seven days which is more than enough unless you want to stream video’s etc, the download speed is around 15 to 20Mbs which again is very good and more than enough, my wife and I used about 4Gb in the first week. There is no mobile signal or 3 or 4G, however WiFi Calling worked fine. The large flatscreen TV in the Living Room is a smart TV, we brought a small USB Hard Drive with Movies on which worked fine for the evenings. There is a Freeview box as well as DVD player and to top it all about 30 Movie DVD’s provided for you to watch if you wish. As far as we are concerned you could not wish for more, oh by the way the hot tub just outside the door is spot on and the garden is FULLY ENCLOSED so if you have a dog he will be well safe and not able to escape. WELL DONE LIN

What a fabulous stay we had!

An amazing lodge set in a very picturesque setting. You wake up with the sounds of birds in the garden, The Lodge is a wonderful place to explore Clywedog from. It has everything for a holiday cottage, it is very comfortable, clean and spacious, with beautiful decor and windows, for a very smooth cosy stay, The rooms and bathrooms were immaculately clean, with lovely touches throughout, and the cottage is big enough for a group of 4. The owners have really thought about everything. We got lost on the way, however the hosts are very attentive, and communication is excellent. If you are looking to get away from it all and rejuvenate in beautiful location, this is perfect. With the reassurance that everything is at your doorstep when needed. then this is the place. We are truly missing the beautiful location and lodge. I wish we could have stayed longer in the Larches. This is an ideal location to explore and enjoy the great fishing at Llyn Clywedog from. Thanks Emma & Tom.

I was looking for a short stay in Wales where me and my husband and children could relax and explore the outdoors.

When I saw the pictures of the views from this lodge I know this place would be amazing. As soon as I booked, I received lots of useful information for our stay. I was also contacted by the owner who was very friendly and made sure we knew where we were going and had everything we needed. When we arrived, the views were not disappointing. We were met by the owner and shown around. The lodge was stunning, very clean and had everything we needed. The owner told us of places we could visit and was extremely friendly. I would 100% recommend this place to family and friends and anyone looking for a relaxing break. Waking up in the morning, having a cup of tea and listening to the cows and sheep was lovely. It was unbelievably quite and just perfect. Thank you for letting us stay in your beautiful holiday home. We hope to be back real soon. Charlotte, David, Olivia and James ☺️

Lovely property in which me and my two friends came to visit!

The location is very much “in the middle of no where” and the nearest town with shops is 30 minutes away so if you are looking to relax, make sure to bring your own food or arrange for a Tesco delivery. It was a beautiful place and the air feels very fresh. The only thing is that there would be more items available such as washing up powder, and a sponge to clean our plates (more the pans that don’t go in the dishwasher)! The Netflix stopped working on the second night so we resorted to watching the olympics instead, so maybe a guide on how to use the TV would be appreciated. The fridge had a little carton of milk, eggs were provided and a bottle of bubbly (thank you). The owners were very patient whilst we were late checking out and they did not make a fuss so we really appreciated that we were not rushed to leave. Thanks so much, very lovely stay!!!
