Originally built in the 17th century, this delightful holiday property, has been carefully converted, combining interesting features with comfort, and making good use of pretty cottage-style prints, soft furnishings and some antiques, in keeping with its period character. It has its own entrance with sloping gardens, and this charming holiday property is tucked away from it all, offering peace, tranquillity and lovely south-facing views across the valley. This is magnificent walking and bird-watching country (many different species spotted in the garden). The nearby Clywedog Lake provides good fishing and sailing, whilst excellent mountain biking facilities can be found a little further afield at Machynlleth.
Five miles away is the pretty market town of Llanidloes with golf, tennis, bowls, swimming, leisure centre and the Red Kite Centre, which boasts live transmission from nests in the Hafren Forest. The town’s fine architecture includes the town hall, the market hall, built on timber stilts, and two imposing 19th-century chapels. There is a good selection of pubs and restaurants nearby.
The coast at Cardigan Bay is only 1 hour away by car, a spectacular journey through glorious scenery across the Plynlimon mountains to the university town and lively seaside resort of Aberystwyth with its cliff railways and various cultural and entertainment diversions, or further north along the Dovey estuary to Aberdovey. Here, the coast with its sandy beach offers opportunities for canoeing, windsurfing and swimming, and beautiful walks can be enjoyed amid the nearby Plas Penhelig Gardens. There are miles of sand and shingle beaches to enjoy, backed by dunes along the coast to Tywyn. The slipway at Aberdovey, 30 miles, makes it a popular sailing centre, also good for surfing, water-skiing and fishing trips. Golf and horse riding are within 5 miles. Shops 5 miles, pub 1¼ miles.

"A lovely country cottage with character in a lovely peaceful location with a fantastic view of the hillside.Watch the sheep go by in the field a few yards from the door.Pheasants and squirrels seen in the garden.A good location to visit mid Wales, Devils Bridge, Elan Valley amongst a few lovely places."

"An excellent but quirky 17th century cottage situated in a lovely quiet valley. Large well kept garden, all the household equipment you need, central heating good, wifi brilliant, dog friendly and our rescue German Shepherd loved it. Dark sky at night with no light pollution, hundreds of stars visible when there is no cloud. Very friendly helpful owner. We loved it and hope to be returning next spring. There has been the odd comment posted that it is difficult to find. That is rubbish, follow the very clear instructions given with the booking details, buy a map before you travel and don't rely on the post code on your sat nav when you get close to the cottage as in this part of Wales post codes cover a larger than usual area. It is a great cottage."

"Sadly we found this cottage disappointing. There was paint peeling off the walls and the fixtures and fittings were old and tired. We were extremely concerned to find shards of broken glass on the kitchen floor, which fortunately we were able to clear away before our dogs found them. We left before the end of our booking time. The owner was delightful, but I am afraid that the cottage was not."
