Plan your holiday your way with Sheffield Holiday Cottages

Sheffield is a cool and cosmopolitan city in the heart of Yorkshire. There's lots to see and do in Sheffield city centre including the Millennium Galleries, Kelham Island Museum and the Botanical Gardens.

The city of Sheffield is also home to a bustling high street and vibrant nightlife with plenty of brilliant restaurants, bars and pubs, and fantastic live music venues, perfect for a memorable night out.

Fancy a break from the city? Surrounding Sheffield you'll find picturesque sprawling countryside and the beautiful Peak District National Park, ideal for outdoor adventures.

To complete your trip, stay in one of our hand-selected Sheffield holiday cottages. We have dozens of gorgeous self-catering properties packed with character, charm, and all the home comforts you could wish for.

Why choose a Sheffield weekend break?

Located in South Yorkshire is Sheffield, a unique city on the edge of the incredible Peak District, so city excitement and stunning natural beauty go hand in hand.

Sheffield is built on hills and rivers, the main one being the River Don, and completely regenerated itself after the Industrial Revolution. Old factory buildings and warehouses retain their historic stature but are now the homes of thriving independent businesses, restaurants, and other cool eateries. In short, Sheffield is a city with a vibrant history mixed with a modern and creative edge.

While the city is well-known for its steel production, there is so much more to Sheffield. It's a multicultural city with an eclectic arts scene, from museums and galleries to theatre and live music. One of our favourite areas is Kelham Island, which was once a powerhouse of industry and is now an eclectic and trendy neighbourhood.

Sheffield's museums are all free to visit, and many of them tell the stories of the city's past. The Kelham Island Museum is a fascinating insight into Sheffield going back over 300 years, while Weston Park Museum located just outside the city centre, provides history going back to prehistoric times.

For a spot of tranquillity in the heart of the city, head to the Winter Garden, a beautiful oasis and one of Europe's largest urban greenhouses. The eco-friendly building is a lovely way to enjoy a spot of respite, where you can relax among over 2,000 plants from across the globe. Or why not visit the beautiful Sheffield Cathedral and marvel at the oldest building in the city?

Impressive street art is everywhere in Sheffield. You can take a street art tour around the city or pop into The Millennium Gallery or Graves Gallery for more street art fun.

Music fans will be in heaven when visiting Sheffield. The city is renowned for its music scene, with famous artists including Arctic Monkeys, Bring Me The Horizon, Pulp, Def Leppard, and The Human League hailing from Sheffield. You can even spot a huge portrait of Jarvis Cocker on the side of a building in Kelham Island.

To experience some top-notch live music, head to iconic venues such as The Leadmill, the longest running live music venue in the city.

Sheffield is also a dream come true for foodies. It has a thriving independent food scene, with countless cafes, eateries, restaurants, street food stalls, and bars everywhere you look. To discover more amazing food spots, join a Kelham Island Food Tour, or go to Cutlery Works, a food hall in Kelham Island with a buzzing atmosphere and lots of independent food vendors.

There's also lots of excellent shopping to be had in Sheffield. For something a little different, venture slightly south of the city centre and have a wander around the Antiques Quarter. It's a quirky area filled with ancient buildings and hidden antique gems. Meadowhall is a huge shopping mall packed with over 250 stores from high street to designer. There's also a massive food court and a cinema.

With so much to see and do in Sheffield, you'll only wish your trip could go on for longer.

What our customers say about their holidays

What a fabulous place Hartcliffe View is.

We have just returned from a weekend birthday celebration with all the family. 12 humans and 3 little dogs. Firstly this is a completely dog friendly place with a large walled garden, big dog bed, bowls etc. provided. The house has everything you could possibly need for your stay with a fully equipped kitchen and utility room- home away from home just bring your food- there’s plenty of storage. Kitchen roll, bin bags, spices , condiments even ice for our evening tipple were all provided. The complimentary couple of bottles of red and tin of biscuits was much appreciated thank you Ed. The kitchen quickly became the hub of the house. On another note there were plenty of loo roll supplied for every bathroom which is not always the case with holiday rentals and there is a hairdryer in every room. The house is well presented and very clean. The large dining room meant we could sit down together and enjoy shared meals into the evening. The house is big enough for everyone to have their space with plenty of activities, the games room was a big hit as was the 70inch TV in the lounge with Sky Sports and a PlayStation. We hired the hot tub as an extra (just as an aside for me it should be included in the house hire as these days hot tubs usually are because who doesn’t like a hot tub) and even though we had inclement weather it was great to sit with a glass of fizz taking in the lovely farm land views. We had an 18 month old toddler with us - the supply of a baby gate, cot, soft play area, bath toys and high chairs were very welcome ! We visited the friendly local pub- open fire, pool table and dart board for a quick drink after walking in the area - plenty of countryside walks round there. All in all we had a thoroughly lovely time and can all highly recommend Hartcliffe - we will be back - thanks for your hospitality Ed ! Wendy and the Von Trapp Family Singers !

We had an amazing weekend at Hartcliffe View - a long overdue family get together.

A stunning location with open countryside all around, which provided great walks for our four dogs. Even although there were 11 adults, there was a huge amount of space and various rooms in which to congregate or relax or have fun - we never felt like we were living on top of each other. The games room was fantastic and hiring the optional hot tub meant that there was something for everyone. The beds were all so comfortable and there was plenty of storage room in each of the bedrooms, which were all a good size. The front drive easily coped with our four cars and the pub along the road (200 yards) meant a welcome libation at the end of our countryside walks. Dogs are very well catered for and it's not often you can say that a garden is completely enclosed and extremely dog-friendly - not to mention the size, which was incredible. The kitchen had everything we could possibly need to cater for our party; with copious amounts of large pans, baking trays, serving dishes, glasses etc and storage (and fridge/freezer) space galore. Everything had been very carefully thought through to ensure our stay was stress free and relaxing. Ed was a great host; so approachable, accommodating, helpful and considerate. Every one of us would visit again in a heartbeat; perhaps in the summer months when we could really take advantage of the fantastic outdoor space and BBQ. Cannot recommend enough!

We were a group ranging in age from 11 months to 81.

The house suited our needs perfectly, catering for everyone. We required ground floor sleeping accomodation as well as downstairs living and socialising areas as our elderly member could not access the stairs. Once again, the house proved perfect for this. Sleeping accomodation catered really well for 2 couples, a couple with a baby and a family. The play pen provided by our hosts proved invaluable as we were able to relax as baby played happily and safely in the pen. The extensive grounds were enjoyed by all, particularly as the weather was lovely. We hired 2 hot tubs and these were used and enjoyed by all. We hired Tom and Mark to cook a meal to celebrate a special birthday and this was excellent. The games room on the top floor was perfect for the children aged 10 and 12 and the adults joined in too. A great time was had by all. We were lucky that Ed and Kim were staying next door and could attend to any (very minor) issues. Thank you! Everyone in the party was very complimentary about the house and are looking forward to returning. Thank you so much to Ed and Kim for their hospitality and generosity (the wine and biscuits were much appreciated). Thank you so much.

      Wow. What can we say.

Lived up to all our expectations and more. This holiday home had EVERYTHING we needed - and more. Every time we thought - would be super handy if they had something, we’d look and find it. So what was great? It was super clean, really comfortable, incredibly well fitted out and in a beautiful location. We used the hot tub company which was great too. All beds were super comfy. The games room was so much fun. The kids loved having a TV in every room (you think you wouldn't need this, but it’s really handy!). We loved the attention to detail - it very much feels like it’s been designed to be an ideal holiday vacation property. The owners are also super nice and helpful - Ed couldn’t have done more for us. Lots of communication. One thing to note: there is a huge marble staircase and a spiral staircase - both of which are amazing, but we had a 3 year old with us who we needed to watch all the time on both. Younger kids (under6) need to be supervised in the games room. Thanks again for such a great stay, we really hope to be back!

This property was perfect for our holiday - group of 13 between the ages of 62-79 and three dogs!

Lovely underfloor heating warmed up the house in no time on arrival. Bedrooms plentiful and well equipped. Spoilt for choice as to which bedrooms we would all have! Communication with owner was top notch. Personal chef experience with Tom was brilliant. We all had a lovely meal adapted to suit all requirements. Trips out on rainy days were plentiful and we thoroughly enjoyed venturing out. The dogs loved the garden which was well enclosed which gave us piece of mind. Plenty of car parking at the front of the house. We would certainly recommend this accommodation to anyone with a large group. A small suggestion maybe - it would be nice if there was an additional key to take with us when going out as well as well as the one key to put back into the safe lock. We locked ourselves out as we split ourselves into two groups - one group thinking the other had put the key back into the safe place. Luckily we managed to get back in! The key was still in the inner door!!!
