"Comfy cottage, just right for a couple and our 2 poodles. Shame that the fire was not available as shown in photos and listed in details. However cottage was nice and warm. Nice little village with pub and another bar short walking distance from cottage. We had a lovely week despite muddy walks! Would recommend and stay again."
    Wendy
"Only disappointment during our stay was we were unable to use the coal fire due to a note on the Kitchen pin board... The garden is in need of a makeover uneven broken paving slabs & decking very slippery.Cottage was well equipped & very central for us."

"Lovely cosy cottage with open fire. Little enclosed patio/garden. Great shower. Entrance way got a lot dirty with dogs. Needs a new vacuum cleaner for visitors to use. Great village..Cheshire Cheese a very welcoming family pub with super food. Lovely cafe serving breakfast. Everywhere allows dogs. Thoroughly recommend."

"Very neat, comfortable, easily manageable: bright, extremely comfortable bedroom. Excellent central heating. Perfect for two people.Very friendly local people."
    Cliff
"Loved staying here, nice and cozy with everything you could need for a comfortable relaxing stay. Good comfy bed and the walk in shower was great. Only niggle would be nowhere to put your cups/ drinks downstairs as small table took up with payphone, a nest of tables would be of much better use.Would definitely book again as we loved the area and for a small village has really good amenities."
    Jennifer
"The cottage is well equipped and although small certainly big enough for 2 people plus dogs of which we had two. Our only criticism is that the garden could have been partially laid to lawn for the purpose of sitting outside in the evening but on reading the visitors book I understand the update on the garden area maybe undertaken at a future date. Longnor has a village shop and a post office for food there is the Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese Inn and a fish & chip shop + 2 cafés which serve a good selection of food."

"Our biggest disappointment was not being able to sit in garden. Completely overgrown, garden furniture was filthy which was a pity as weather was nice but not able to take advantage of it. The bathroom floor had a leakage problem and our feet got soaked eerytime we went in there. Overall quite disappointed."

"Nice little comfortable cottage which was warm even though we had cold wet weather. Garden and outside seating needs attention."

"This is our second stay at this location. The cottage is the percentage for a walking holiday. The cottage is the perfect place to come back to with its great shower and comfy bed.If you can't be bothered cooking the chip shop is highly recommended as is the Cheshire Cheese pub.The whole area is very dog friendly too."
    Brenda
"Lovely cottage clean and tidy the garden was not suitable for dogs lots of weeds and shrubs"
    Philip
"Very nice petite cottage. Centrally located offering many local walks. Just a short stroll to the Chippy with pubs not much further. Lovely rear garden and parking just a few yards away in the next street."
    Terence
"The main reason for not visiting again was the parking of the car. We were told by the locals we could not park outside the house. Also the garden is in a very poor state. We were only given one bath towel between two of us. We were unable to contact the local contact. No mobile phone signal - difficult if taken ill. Loose money necessary to use phone."
    Georgina
"Lovely cosy cottage for two, equipped with everything you would need. Reliable wifi provided free. No mobile phone signal in village but a pay phone installed in cottage to compensate. Lovely little village with dog friendly cafe and pubs. Really convenient for Peak District attractions and places of interest 😀👏"
    Rebecca
"Fantastic cottage, surpassed all our expectations, cosy with all mod cons, perfectly placed for walking, shop, pub and chippy all in locality. We recommend this cottage 100% absolutely brilliant!"

"A lovely cottage in a stunning location."
    Eleanor
"Bit of a muddle over the garden was it enclosed or not told two different things and contact for getting key info was old and not valid. Cottage is nice the open fire very good when weather is bad. Not easy to find any grass local for dogs 1st thing in morning as no grass in garden. Walks in the area very nice and got a good book locally to tell us best place to walk the dogs, everyone had issues with the key and the locking of the door as reported in visitors book , that could be easily rectified with a note from owner."
    Nick
"Very nice comfortable cottage, everything there we needed."
    Malcolm
"We have been to this cottage about 15 times great for dog owners with a fenced rear garden. A very good chip shop and pub one minute from the cottage. Pleanty of places to park your car, unload outside front door. Great walks from the cottage through farm yard acros s from the Cheshire pub across six fields to Sheen Hill back via Pilsbury Grange and the Castle. Another up Dowel Dale over the top via footpath back along Glutton Dale to the farm house then over Earl Sterndale and up the hill to Top of the Brow at Longnor. Vist Hartington and Monyash for food and walks . Bakewell market on Mondays. Over Hadden is good for walks and food. Hope to back in October."
    Grace

    Carole
"Had a lovely weeks break here with our 2 dogs. Cottage is very well equipped, nicely furnished and cosy. Nice to have a good sized TV to watch, kitchen well stocked and nice bathroom with an excellent shower . Secure garden for the dogs.would definitely stay here again."
    Roger
"Well equipped and ideally located. My only major issue with the cottage is that we found it uncomfortable. The bed was too hard and the settee was too low and also uncomfortable and these were the reasons we cut short our stay. I spent the week sitting on a wooden dining room chair. We used the supplied duvet as a mattress topper. Some of the seating in the garden is broken and this is systematic of the cottage, it need to have some love and attention spent on it. This was not a 4* cottage in terms of homeliness."
    Dave
"Having stayed in several cottages we think this is the best. It makes very good use of space available, is comfotable and warm with a great bathroom."

"Fantastic location overlooking picturesque church within a minute walk of market place which has excellent facilities including cafe, pubs, post office and village shop. No private parking but streets near cottage not busy and free parking and we were able to load/unload right outside cottage on arrival and departure. Good quality fixtures/fittings, large screen TV in lounge and bedroom and amazing power shower! Plenty of room for a couple and dog with small enclosed garden. Plenty of fields/walks within 5 minutes of cottage. Centrally located for major attractions including Buxton, Bakewell, Chatsworth House (all within 30 minutes scenic drive). June 2012. "

Small front and rear garden with seating areas. A comfortable bed, excellent shower and modern bathroom coupled with two TVs/DVD upstairs and downstairs provide the necessary relaxation. Conveniently located a mere 6 miles from Buxton town, this cottage is a real gem! May 2012."

"A lovely cottage in a great village location. We stayed on a very snowy weekend and the caretaker and owner were very helpful in giving us information about whether we’d actually be able to get there! Path was cleared of snow, heating was on and fire was ready to be lit when we arrived which was very welcoming. Thanks to Liz and David. Dec 2010."
