"A lovely cottage with very modern kitchen/bathroom facilities combined with traditional comfortable furniture in the living room. Nice gardens, although steep!"

"We enjoyed our stay at the cottage. A lovely place, comfortable and well-equipped. We would highly recommend this cottage for a holiday stay."

"Lovelly cottage in the quiet village of Parwich, this well equiped cottage is a could base for visiting the Peak District and Derbyshire Dales. Close to Ashbourne which is a pleasant town and good for shopping. Nice local inn The Sycamore but going against the trend of most people staying at the Rookery we were very disappointed with a meal we had there. Made up for this with a visit to the Bowling Green Inn on the outskirts of Ashbourne excellent lunch time meal and suberb value."

"Beautiful cottage with a comfortable homely atmosphere, located in a pretty village and surrounded by stunning scenery. We enjoyed our short stay very much. There is so much to see in the area that we plan to return later in the year."

"Second time stay, beautiful cottage and location. So nice to only hear birds singing when you wake and not traffic!"

"Wonderful cottage. Shirley was so welcoming & attentive to our pre-holiday queries over email. All appliances worked fine & place was really clean and cosy! Village is very pretty and the pub is worth a visit for dinner (booking advised)."
    Toni ‐ 21 Apr 2018
"Lovingly restored country cottage. We appreciated all the hard work that has gone into The Rookery's restoration and it felt very special having been in the same family with it's associated history for so many years. Very comfortable and cosy with nice touches, such as the fire already made up for us, which was most welcome on our first chilly evening. Great dog walks right from the door and tasty pub food at the local hostelry. We hope to return again in the future."
    Anna ‐ 11 Apr 2018
"The cottage is in a beautiful village. It is pretty and quaint and well stocked however1) neither of the fires would burn in spite of multiple attempts by experience fire users and different wood.2) the second bedroom is tiny and not a full sized double bed3) the kitchen sink is back breakingly low4) most annoying of all it has very low ceilings which are not stated in the property info."
    MORTY ‐ 23 Mar 2018
"We stayed as a group of ladies over a snowy weekend. The village is very pretty and the local pub is excellent and serves a great Sunday lunch. The cottage was well equipped and very traditionally pretty. We had to stay an extra night due to the snow and my only 'but' is we ran out of fire wood and kindling and were only left enough for a couple of fires. The key holders were responsive to emails/messages but unable to provide additional kindling so we were very cold at times. It definitely did not ruin our time and we would not hesitate to go back."

"The Rookery is a lovely cosy cottage in a great little village. We stayed there in the depths of winter but we were snug and warm with the two real fires. The friendly village pub doubles as a local shop and restaurant. A great place for a getaway especially if you have dogs"
    Selina ‐ 17 Feb 2018
"The house was a clean, homely, comfortable base for a break in the beautiful Peak District. It was cold and snowy outside so the woodburner was very welcome."
    Liz ‐ 11 Feb 2018
"We had a really lovely stay for the weekend. It was nice to sit in front of the fire and chill! The kitchen was very well equipt. The bedrooms were comfy. Everywhere was clean and inviting. All good.It was a shame that the local pub was having a refit so we couldn't enjoy a local meal out. The host was lovely and was very helpful."
