About this property

Settled into the estate of Armstrong Cottages, originally built by Lord Armstrong for workers renovating Bamburgh Castle, Armstrong Cottage No6 is ideal for a family looking to explore the beautiful seaside town of Bamburgh and the wonders of Northumberland. Park off-road and unpack with ease into this beautifully finished cottage, making yourself at home in the airy open-plan living area, where tall ceilings and large windows draw in seas of light and a traditional bare brick fireplace housing a woodburning stove melts seamlessly into the tasteful contemporary décor. Stylish green sofas create a pocket of relaxation, ideal for evenings spent with a glass of your favourite beverage and a good book, and the kitchen offers all of the home-from-home amenities needed to cook up a storm, which can be enjoyed at the dining table. Freshen up in the eye-catching pink bathroom before you cosy up for the night in either a king-size bed with lime décor or a twin with homely blankets. Outside, the garden is delightful, boasting both views of the castle and dunes, with a lawn perfect for picnics and a barbecue for you to put your culinary skills to the test, dining alfresco is a must. Bamburgh is a fantastic coastal town, and you can explore the increadible Bamburgh Castle, which towers above the surroundings and allows for brilliant views, before heading down to the beach to take a stroll in the salty air or even try out watersports. A deli and food emporium are available for you to stock up on essentials and try out local produce, and there is a selection of cafes and pubs waiting to supply you with a heart-warming meal. Further from the town you will find other excellent locations such as Seahouses and Beadnell, or visit Holy Island with its many intriguing historical sites including the well-known Lindisfarne Priory and castle. Make a family holiday to remember with a stay at the idyllic Armstrong Cottage No6.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.

The front fence to the left of the front door needs to be repaired before it comes down. The rubber strip bottom of shower door is about to come away. The overall stay was excellent and we really enjoyed the place which was comfortable, well furnished and in a great location.

The style suited my taste as it is quite minimal and very nicely presented. The location is perfect and we enjoyed our walks over the dunes to the beach with the fabulous view of Bamburgh castle with us at all times. We felt very relaxed and comfortable and the location is perfect!

The garden is large and private. Ideal for a family with young children due to space and play equipment. The cottage itself was clean and the beds were comfortable. It could be improved with more attention to decor and facilities such as another comfortable chair in the sitting area, a couple of small coffee tables and also bed side tables or cabinets in main bedroom. Also exterior doors very still and hard to open. Not ideal for elderly people due to these doors and use of shower. Blinds in bedrooms could also be adjusted for better outside light elimination.
