About this property

A quaint stone cottage set across a single storey welcoming you with beautiful views of the countryside and castle, Castle View is ideal for a family who want to explore the heritage and coastline of Bamburgh and the surrounding areas of Northumberland. Refurbished to a high standard, this property offers an open-plan living area with a wonderful selection of leather sofas, resting beside a quirky brick fireplace with a woodburning stove to warm your feet in the cooler months. The kitchen is spacious and contains all of the contemporary amenities you will need to create a heart-warming meal, and all guests can dine together at the wooden dining table, making this an excellent social hub. Freshen up with a warming soak in the shower and snuggle up for the night in one of the two bedrooms, both with tartan decor, including a king-size zip-link bed (can be set up as a tin on request) and a double. Outside, there is a bench where breakfast can be enjoyed in the sunshine with a view to the magnificent Bamburgh Castle. Bamburgh is a wonderful location with loads on offer for guests, beginning with a local deli and butchers, where you can sample local produce and stock up on essentials, and there is a delightful selection of tasty eateries for you to enjoy. Bamburgh has a wonderful sandy beach, so why not spend a day walking along the coast and enjoying the salty air? The most stunning part of this location is probably the magnificent castle which offers spectacular views and an intriguing insight into the local history. More beaches and a golf course can be found at Seahouses, a little further from the property, or you can visit Holy Island for a further insight into the history of Northumberland. Make a seaside holiday to remember with a stay at Castle View.

The village’s sweeping sandy beaches and dramatic fortress - Bamburgh Castle - make Bamburgh one of Northumberland’s major visitor attractions. The castle can be seen for miles and dominates this part of the county’s coastline. Today it remains home to the family of the great Victorian industrialist Lord Armstrong, and is open to the public on a daily basis. Although overshadowed by the great castle, Bamburgh village is picturesque with neat grey stone cottages facing a manicured village green. There are excellent pubs, hotels with restaurants and a small selection of village shops. There are golf courses in Bamburgh and nearby Seahouses, and within easy reach are more wide sandy beaches, lovely fishing villages, stunning castles and coastal islands to explore along the dramatic Heritage Coast. There are numerous other attractions also a short drive away, including the famous Alnwick Castle and Gardens and the historic walled border town, Berwick-upon-Tweed. A superb base for exploring Northumberland.

Would book again in the future.

Nicky from Sykes was really helpful getting in touch with the owner to see if they would accommodate us at such short notice. Payment and confirmation were really well handled as was the information sent via email. The cottage itself was really cosy, loved the log burner. Kitchen was really well equipped and decorating throughout was nice. It's just over a mile to walk into Bamburgh and it's down a lane with no pavement so care needs to be taken when walking in. We tended to take the car down to Bamburgh then explore from there. All in all a great week away.

Only downside was that we think the people before us had a dog and the property hadn't been properly hoovered/swept so had to hoover on arrival but don't let this put you off as we would book again.
