Guests say

Waingap is a charming and spacious cottage set in a stunning, peaceful location with breathtaking views and direct access to beautiful walks. Guests consistently praise its cosy atmosphere, well-equipped kitchen, and suitability for families and dogs. While the majority found the property clean and comfortable, a few noted issues with cleanliness and maintenance. Some guests mentioned a lack of welcome packs and minor inconveniences such as limited toilet paper and no external bins. Overall, Waingap offers a tranquil retreat ideal for those seeking relaxation and natural beauty.

Most guests found the cottage clean and well-presented, but several reviews mention issues such as cobwebs, dusty beams, stained carpets and curtains, and occasional lapses in bathroom cleanliness. These comments suggest that while the general standard is good, there is room for improvement in attention to detail.

The location is universally praised for its tranquillity, stunning views, and beautiful surroundings. Guests love the peaceful setting, direct access to walks, and proximity to local attractions, making it a standout feature of the property.

Guests frequently describe the cottage as cosy, warm, and comfortable, with particular appreciation for the beds and homely atmosphere. A few minor issues were noted, such as creaky floors and a problematic shower, but overall comfort is rated highly.

The cottage is generally well-equipped, with positive mentions of the kitchen, bathrooms, and entertainment options. However, some guests noted dated decor, maintenance issues (e.g., shower temperature, boiler noise), and lack of access to certain amenities like table tennis. The absence of external bins and limited toilet paper were also mentioned.

Several guests commented on the lack of a welcome pack or small touches such as milk, biscuits, or dog treats, which are sometimes provided at other cottages but are not guaranteed here. The property does not provide dog bowls or beds, and some guests felt more could be done to make dogs feel welcome.

Positives: location, view, grounds - especially when you come with dogs, 3 bathrooms, books, Smart TV, WiFi, plenty dishwasher tablets, Negatives: very, very dated.Boiler makes a horrible sound anytime you use water. No external bins - we had to take rubbish to Kendal (Morrisons), very uneven, creaky floors, no Welcome Pack, not enough toilet paper. No bowls for dogs, shame we did not get access to fusball or table tennis as locked away in a shed. Twin room upstairs - tiny. No extra blankets, poor water pressure in the shower

What a lovely place. Very old and quirky but well maintained and extremely well equipped and clean. Fantastic for dogs and my two collies loved it. My only negative comment is that the down stair shower was either hot or off, the temperature control did not work. This is not a complaint, it is just to let the owners know. I would highly recommend and will definitely be back when next in the area.
