Cherry Barn is praised for its peacefulness, beautiful surroundings, and proximity to lovely walks and the Pennine Way. Guests appreciate the well-equipped kitchen, cozy atmosphere, and the views of Dufton Pike. While some guests mention cleanliness issues and a need for maintenance, the overall experience is positive, with many looking forward to returning.
Reviews are mixed regarding cleanliness. While some guests found Cherry Barn lovely and clean, one review highlighted the need for a thorough cleaning, which suggests room for improvement.
The location is highly praised for its quietness, beautiful views, and access to local walks and the Pennine Way. It is described as perfect for a peaceful rural stay.
Guests find the bedrooms comfortable and the cottage cozy, especially once the heating is figured out. The additional toilet is appreciated, and the overall comfort level is high.
Facilities are generally well-regarded, with a well-equipped kitchen and adequate bathroom. However, some maintenance issues like pathway conditions and a kettle needing replacement slightly lower the score.
While guests mention a lack of welcome pack and dead flowers, there is no consistent reference to gifts or extra touches of thoughtfulness. Therefore, it is not possible to accurately score this category.

Cherry Barn is a pretty barn conversion on the outskirts of the quiet village of Dufton, lying on the eastern fellside of the Eden Valley.
This traditional sandstone barn has been tastefully converted into a 2-bedroom holiday home which retains a good deal of charm and character. Surrounded by stunning scenery, the converted barn has excellent views to be enjoyed from the living area of Dufton Pike, a short journey away is Dufton, which has a good pub on the village green and is on the Pennine Way. There is excellent walking and cycling from the doorstep and one of the highlights is High Cup Nick which is a spectacular geological feature and walkers are rewarded with an amazing view along the Eden Valley to the Lakeland fells. The ancient, attractive market town of Appleby, three miles, stands on the River Eden and is on the famous and scenic Carlisle to Settle train line.
Dufton provides a good base from which to explore the contrasting but equally beautiful Lakes and Dales National Parks. The Scottish border and Hadrian’s Wall are also an easy, pretty drive away. Have an afternoon tea at the tea room, 200 yards, or an evening meal in the pub with restaurant, 200 yards.

We had a lovely time at the Cherry Barn. The location is excellent and there are some lovely walks starting from the doorstep! The kitchen is very well equipped - we only had some issues with the kettle that probably needs replacement. Seamus was very quick to respond to messages and always helpful. We'd definetely go back.

We had a great time at Cherry Cottage - the place was perfect for us. There are 2 big bedrooms with comfy bed, the bathroom and kitchen are perfectly adequate and the additional toilet was handy. After we worked out how the heating worked the place was lovely and warm. The only minor problem was the pathway leading down to the cottage, which proved a little treacherous at night in the pitch black - it is overgrown, and covered in leaves which were slippery in the pouring rain. Make sure you have your walking boots on! We had a lovely walk following the many public footpaths around the cottage, and were able to drive to different places of interest - the cottage is in a great location for this.
