Guests say

Peel Wyke offers a fantastic location just a short walk from Keswick town centre, with beautiful views of the surrounding fells. Guests appreciate the quiet setting, ample parking, and spacious layout. While the property is dated and could benefit from modernisation and a deep clean, it provides a warm, comfortable base for walkers and those exploring the area. The bungalow is well-equipped for simple stays, making it ideal for guests who prioritise location and value over luxury or contemporary decor.

Cleanliness is a recurring concern, with several guests noting issues such as dust, cobwebs, dirty bathrooms, and kitchen utensils requiring cleaning before use. Some guests found the property acceptably clean, but the majority felt it needed a deep clean and more attention to detail.

The location is consistently praised, with guests highlighting the quiet residential street, proximity to Keswick town centre (5–10 minutes’ walk), and excellent views. Parking is easy, either on the road or the drive, though the drive is steep.

Comfort is mixed: guests find the bungalow warm and spacious, but many mention uncomfortable beds, thin mattresses and pillows, and dated furnishings. The property is suitable for those who spend most of their time outdoors, but may not suit those seeking high comfort standards.

Facilities are basic but functional, with a well-equipped kitchen for simple meals, good heating, and hot water. However, maintenance issues such as dated decor, worn carpets, wallpaper coming off, and some faulty appliances are frequently mentioned. The property would benefit from modernisation and repairs.

There are no mentions of welcome gifts or extra thoughtful touches in the reviews, so a score cannot be provided for this category.

This house is in dire need of a deep clean and updated. The paper on the ceiling is surely a fire hazard, the decor is from the 90s. The shower is awful, the bathroom floor is sticky due to not being washed properly. The kitchen needs updated to a more acceptable standard. All in all this house is in a beautiful area but sadly inside let's it down. The oven blasts out a very, very hot blast of air when opened to take anything out.The fridge is far too small and leeks water constantly. We had to through some food away due to puddling.Heater in the bathroom surely dangerous. The beds are the most uncomfortable I've slept in particularly the single bed next to the wardrobe which is not put together properly. A great shame to let this little house go to wreck and ruin
