The Coleridge Log Burner lodge offers a peaceful retreat in a beautiful location, with many guests praising its spaciousness, comfort, and well-equipped interiors. The staff are frequently described as friendly and helpful, and the site is ideal for dog owners and families. While the majority of reviews highlight cleanliness and a homely atmosphere, some guests noted that certain lodges are showing signs of wear and could benefit from maintenance and updates. Occasional issues with privacy, TV signal, and minor housekeeping lapses were mentioned, but overall, the property provides a relaxing and enjoyable stay.
Most guests found the lodges clean and tidy, with fresh linen and well-prepared accommodation. However, a few reviews reported issues such as lingering odours, stained carpets, and insufficient deep cleaning between stays, indicating some inconsistency in housekeeping standards.
The location is widely praised for its tranquillity, natural beauty, and proximity to local attractions. Guests appreciate the peaceful surroundings and scenic views, making it a standout feature of the property.
Guests frequently mention comfortable beds, spacious lodges, and a relaxing atmosphere. Some minor concerns about worn furniture and lack of privacy were raised, but overall comfort levels remain high.
Facilities are generally well-received, with well-equipped kitchens and amenities. However, several guests noted maintenance issues such as broken appliances, dated interiors, and the need for updates. Occasional problems with TV signal and spa facilities were also mentioned.
Some guests appreciated thoughtful touches such as dog gifts, prosecco glasses, and a wine cooler. However, these gestures are not guaranteed for every stay, and a few guests felt that attention to detail could be improved.

Me and my family have stayed at Keswick reach on several occasions and their sister site at Thanet well too and love our breaks to the lakes and the ease of using the lodges for our family. However, upon entering the lodge 67, which we had actually stayed in the exact same lodge 13 months previously, we were met with a smell which can only be described as wet dog and vomit. Living area appeared clean and tidy but on closer inspection there was sellotape attached to the curtain poles and the overall level of cleanliness was poor. Upon entering the hallway the smell grew stronger. We inspected each room trying to find where the smell was coming from and located a darker patch on the back bedroom floor. Someone had clearly vomited down the side of the bed and there were vomit splash marks on the skirting board and up the side of the fabric bed. By this point reception had closed (Saturday hours) so we had to wait until the following morning to report the ‘issue’. A lovely cleaning lady did attend and apologised, the floor was cleaned and the bedding changed. However, unfortunately the smell remained and we had to go back to report this again. We asked to be moved lodges and were told there were no others available as they were fully booked. The carpets were all cleaned the following day whilst we were out of the lodge for the day and a bottle of Prosecco, we don’t drink, and two aeroplanes were left for our children. We appreciated the effort but the smell remained. The week we visited the weather was 27 degrees most days so the heat mixed with the smell was nothing short of disgusting. Additionally to this we reported a leak in the main bathroom. After the shower was used the bathroom floor when stood on lifted and water came up through the cracks. We explained that we thought there was a leak and they put new sealant around the edge of the bath. The problem remained. All in all when you are spending all that money for a week you do expect at least basic, clean living accommodation and unfortunately Keswick reach fell extremely short of this. The turn over of guests is extremely busy and I appreciate there is not a lot of time between people departing and people arriving but the lodges are showing lots of signs of wear and tear and just need a good clean and maintenance issues dealt with properly. The staff tried to alleviate the issues with quick fixes which unfortunately fell short and did not actually fix any of the problems. We had already booked a break at Thanet well, sister site, later in the year but we will not be returning to Keswick reach which we are extremely disappointed to have to do because the site location and facilities work for us as a family but the hygiene and cleanliness for the price paid is just not justifiable.
