About this property

Ripley 2.3 miles. The Croft, Home Farm is a stunning, contemporary cottage settled into the countryside of Pentrich near Ripley. With countryside views, a close by pub, and access to the Peak District National Park, this property is ideal for couples or families seeking a getaway to Derbyshire. Be welcomed into this light and airy abode where immaculately designed interiors add an air of opulence to your stay. Walking under an archway and down several steps, you will come to a welcoming sitting room with plush Italian leather furniture, double glass doors, and a Smart TV. When the sun is shining, throw open the double doors and let the fresh air in, heading out into the enclosed garden where a patio offers a space to dine alfresco, whilst being inspired to explore by the countryside views. There are two well-presented bedrooms within the property, as well as a family bathroom, so choose between a ground-floor double with a Smart TV, or a twin, tucked into the first floor and accessed by a quirky spiral staircase.

Outside, guests have access to walks on the owner's land right from their doorstep. When you feel like a pint in the sunshine or a hearty meal, head over to The Dog at Pentrich, only a short walk from the property, and Ripley offers shops and eateries. Fishing beside the River Amber at Higham Farm Fishery, or visit the Ogston Reservoir where there is a sailing club, or stroll around the Butterfly Reservoir, where there are several cafes to be enjoyed. Matlock is a lovely town, with Matlock Bath close by offering plenty of shops, pubs, an aquarium, The Great Masson Cavern, and the Heights of Abraham attraction.

The Peak District National Park is within reach, and here you will find a multitude of scenic walks throughout the hills and valleys, including those at Thor's Cave, Robin Hood's Stride, Kinder Scout, and Dove Holes. Here there are also historic halls where guests can take a stroll in the gardens, including Haddon Hall and Chatsworth House. There is simply so much to be explored with a stay at the beautiful The Croft, Home Farm.

Th Village was designed and built, by Sir William Amcotts Ingleby in the 1830's. Sir William was so inspired by a model estate village he saw on a visit to France, that he came home and demolished the existing buildings in Ripley, beginning again from scratch to a classic French design. Today, the village is small and unspoilt and boasts a beautiful Castle in the centre (still home to the Ingleby family) with extensive gardens open to the public which include waterfalls, bridges and a lake. Deer graze in the grounds and there is a shop and tea-rooms within the Castle. The village has a large cobbled market place in the centre, overlooked by the Boar's Head - an old coaching inn which offers an excellent restaurant, bar and bistro. There is a village store and ice cream parlour where visitors can enjoy the very popular Ripley ice cream, along with a butcher’s, art gallery and much more.
