What our customers say about their holidays

    • Glen - Verified booking

      Outstanding.

This home is absolutely outstanding in every way. It has been furnished to such a high standard, that it is almost insanity that the owners let anyone stay here at all. I wouldn't even invite my friends around. Fortunately they are clearly more generous of spirit than me. Every room is an utter delight to be in: The kitchen is any chef's dream, with every appliance and service I've ever dreamed of and a few we now must have; we never wanted to get out of the sublime beds with their incredibly soft linen and weighty duvets; the bunks and books in the childrens' playroom or nursery made me want to be and a child again; the bathrooms are all palaces with wonderfully deep baths, large showers, luxurious towels, toiletries, and charmingly beachy decor; and the outside is a haven (book the hot tub). The thought that they have put into even the smallest details is humbling. The artwork and fixtures are enchanting. All of their recommendations for walks and eateries were excellent - the Stores café at the end of the road was a joy, the Rock Inn for Sunday lunch is the perfect local with hearty food and great beer, the beaches at both Croyde and Saunton are achingly beautiful. The owners have achieved something truly special here and I can't recommend it enough. It should be double the price and you really should have to provide references before being allowed to stay! Book quickly before they come to their senses. I was expecting something great, but this home exceeded anything I could imagine, let alone expect. I have run out of superlatives, but thank you again for sharing this all with us.

We stayed as a family of 4 in July and found this to be a great base for visiting all of the local areas. When we came home each evening it was easy to use the local pubs, restaurants and takeaways for food without having to drive as there were plenty to choose from on the doorstep and also having the well-stocked Co-op just round the corner was perfect for getting what we needed to self-cater. The cottage is small but spacious as its open plan. It was very clean and the kitchen was well stocked with cleaning products to get started with, plus a cordless hoover to use as needed. The quality of the crockery and glasses were much nicer and they were clean and plentiful, the same for bedding and towels which were fluffy and comfortable. The little shed outside had some body boards and beach equipment in that we borrowed and then put back for the next guests which was a lovely touch and saved us having to buy these as we hadn't brought our own. The parking is off-road, but there is only enough length for one car - however we have a large Audi estate and it was perfect for us, the car was secure and well back from the pavement. Our only query would be that there was no information left regarding the bin collection days and this would have been helpful as the bin was quite full already on our arrival and we would liked to have put this out for collection so it could be fully emptied. But overall we would have no hesitation in recommending this property, we had a fabulous holiday and look forward to returning again!

We have just returned from a week's stay at this beautiful house.

There were 8 of us in our family group - 6 adults plus a 14yr old teenager and a 5 yr old child. We were absolutely delighted when we arrived to find an immaculately clean and beautifully presented house with loads of space inside and a lovely area outside for everyone to enjoy. The bedrooms and bathrooms were spotless and everyone had plenty of room to relax with no worries about queuing for bathrooms or taking turns in showers. Although my husband and I don't like to use hot-tubs, the rest of the family loved it and it certainly looked super clean and well maintained - as was the whole property. The furniture was plentiful for our large group and the decor was lovely with some quirky touches around! We had a wonderful time and wouldn't hesitate to recommend for a family holiday. The communication with the owners couldn't have been better - any questions were quickly answered and they were most helpful. We had 3 large cars between us and there was no problem fitting them all onto the driveway (the lane outside though is quite narrow!) We walked into the small town most nights where there were plenty of shops, bars etc. Squires fish and chips must be sampled! We were also very lucky with the weather - 7 days of sunshine - and we went to the nearest 3 beaches - Saunton Sands, Croyde and Woolacombe - all delightful (apart from too many dogs on Saunton Beach!) It was all just fabulous and, if you are considering making a booking here, then don't hesitate - it's perfect and you'll LOVE it!

The old police house was a great place it was very clean, tidy and in a great location.

The beds were very comfortable. There was more than enough cutlery, and dinnerware for all the family there were even kids cutlery and dinnerware. The notice board was great as gave us useful information so did the handbook that was left but really needed updating and it was contradicting what was on the notice board. The outdoor toilet is great addition.there was a cupboard full of games most were old but still fun to play. The only downside to the property was the lack of door handles, out of the three bedroom doors upstairs only one room had a door handle making if difficult for privacy. One of the bedrooms was also missing a blind so got a lot of light coming into the room in the morning. There were no instructions for the washer/dryer so had to Google them. There were pegs in the property but no clothes lines so this made it difficult to dry clothes when the weather outside was wet. The stairs in the property are steep and could really do with a handrail all the was down. The stairs in the back garden are also very steep and narrow but when you make it up on to the decking it is very lovely and big area for all the family to set out and enjoy. Overall this was a great property I would definitely stay at this property again.

What a delightful cottage! And so easy to book online! Great aspect and we didn't mind the short walk to the church car park - we visited the church before leaving: Recommended. Had the best of both worlds as the cottage is low ceilings and timber beams, crooked walls and floors, not one stair matches another, all very quaint, whilst the kitchen is new and full of mod-cons. Plenty of lovely fluffy towels of varying sizes; lots of kitchen tea towels (and a pinny!). We all found the beds comfy, and slept really well. The little garden was perfect for our dog, contained her yet permitted a little nosy at the neighbours in the driveway behind. I was quite happy sitting there in the morning sun with my dog and a cuppa whilst the teenagers did what teenagers do: wasted the morning sleeping! We found the cottage well placed to visit the North Devon beaches and coastal towns, non of which were too far away. The narrow roads were interesting and we seemed to have no problems despite visiting during the height of the season. We love it! It took no time to feel like home. Thank you for having us. Vicky, Mum, 3 teens and a dog.
