What our customers say about their holidays

    • Michael - Verified booking

The location was idyllic in the country.

Reminded me of my life as a child. Ground floor a little claustrophobic but comfortable. The stone floor could do with a deep clean. The bedrooms and bathroom were nice and cosy. The only gripe about the bathroom is the floor again could do with a deep clean. The property is well furnished and well equipped. We feel that the water temperature from the ‘hot’ taps are scalding and could injure a child. The attached barns have some lovely wildlife. An Owl box in one barn and swallows in nests in another. Our dog and I saw the Barn Owl at 6.30am sat on a fence post only yards away in the lovely Orchard. It then flew off to a nearby tree. That Owl, the swallows and a Wren telling off our dog made the short break. Will definitely use Sykes again. Note: Please notify owner re Hot Water and deep cleaning of stone floor and bathroom floor. That said it was a lovely break away

A beautiful cottage tucked away down a typical Cornish country lane. The property is next to the owners own property, John and Lou and we could not have wished for better hosts. We were shown around the property on arrival and where everything was, a few little treats as well, which were very much appreciated. We were also allowed to walk around the 17 acres of land whenever we wanted and enjoy the peace and quiet that the location provided. The accommodation was clean, tidy, comfortable and there was everything we needed for a week away, a home from home. The area has so much to offer and wished we could have stayed longer. Would we go back? In a heartbeat and will definitely be rebooking in the near future. Thank you John and Lou for a special and memorable holiday in your beautiful cottage.

This is lovely accommodation set in a very peaceful and beautiful setting. The place is very homely and comfortable and good value for money. It’s situated in a rural location yet not too far to travel to the coast and other Cornwall attractions. The hosts provided lots of little personal touches from tea, coffee, biscuits and toiletries. They even provided treats for our doggies. This place is ideal if you prefer to eat out as the fridge, cooking facilities and food preparation spaces are very limited. However there are so many pubs and restaurants nearby that this is not an issue. The ducks at the accommodation kept us entertained when we were there and the location meant that the stars at night were amazing.

Peaceful, pretty location, a little bit out of the way unless you have a car, then it's ideal, your never far from anywhere in Devon or Cornwall.

A beautifully decorated, old rustic cottage, clean, bright and very comfortable. The owners are very pleasant and easy to contact, they leave you a delightful welcome tray ready for when you arrive. Even though the weather wasn't the best (it's expected after all, it's England in September/October!) it didn't stop us from getting about and seeing all the sights and there are many to see. The bijou kitchen is amazing and so well stocked with all the amenities you could need. The bed is comfortable and all of the rooms very spacious for a small cottage. We loved it, it was home form home. We would deffinately go back again and recommend it to other couples who want a peaceful location.

We loved our stay at Miller’s Lodge.

The property was extremely comfortable and well-equipped with everything you could think of. We visited in mid November yet the cottage was warm and cosy with thoughtful books and good tv as well as a very nice kitchen to cook in during the winter evenings. The location just a two minute walk from the branch line station was really handy for trips to Looe, Liskeard or Plymouth - you could even arrive by train if you wished! There’s a lovely little tinkling brook at the end of the garden too! The WiFi in the cottage was excellent (despite Sykes saying it wasn’t!). We would highly recommend!
