What our customers say about their holidays

    • Anita - Verified booking

We would strongly recommend Sheila's Cottage to anyone wanting to visit Penryn/Falmouth/Truro coastline, or further afield.

It truly is a lovely 'home from home' experience. Everything, was so cosy, clean and welcoming. Graeme and Gail left us a bottle of wine, fresh flowers, chocolates and treats for our dog, as well as even laying the fire in the log burner ready for us. Central heating through-out, which was timed perfectly, so that we were always warm in October. Even extra niceties, such as fresh milk in the fridge, the little things you might forget to take such as cooking oil, condiments ect all provided. This was on top of all cleaning products provided, including dishwasher and washing machine tabs. Extremely comfortable bed, pillows ect. This cottage has it all, including peace and quiet if you need a restful break. It also has a lovely conservatory, with comfortable seating to put your feet up and enjoy the evenings drawing in, in comfort. Cards, games, CDs, DVDs also provided if you want to fill some time. Our hosts were lovely and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. I mistakenly left my hairdryer and kindle behind and they kindly informed me and posted it out to me the same day, wrapped in bubble wrap for protection. Also, sitiated close to all amenities and dog friendly beaches in half term. Quite frankly, in our experience we can honestly say that the whole week was made for us with such a lovely clean, inviting and cosy cottage to return to each day. Thank you Graeme and Gail for a lovely holiday that we both felt was a breath of fresh air for us, as well as extremely good value for money. This cottage surpassed all our expectations, thank you! It is definitely on our radar for return visits.

A very tastefully decorated wee cottage with thoughtful and tasteful interior decoration.

A delightful double bed gives a feeling of sumptuous comfort and almost hugs you! Well equipped kitchen and private patio off it for the dry days. There's an unusual feature in the bathroom too! Great walks from the cottage and very close to Cawsand and Kingsand which can be reached via a number of paths and even the tarmaced Earl's drive if the other paths are muddy/wet. Its also v close to the popular Maker Canteen for breakfast or lunch. Very welcoming and approachable hosts. Little touches on arrival greet guests:- home made scones with homemade jam and luscious Cornish clotted cream, milk and a sample of home made sloe gin ( which, if you like it, is available in a bigger bottle from the hosts as a souvenir of a wonderful stay) I've been holidaying in the area ( mostly Cawsand) since 1988 and the Old Dairy is the best accommodation l've stayed in in all that time.

      Where to even start!

We’ve just had the most brilliant stay at The Old Dairy- so much so we extended our stay whilst there. The owners, Mark and Lin, are so friendly and welcoming. The property was absolutely perfect for our family of 3- two adults and a 7 year old. The Old Dairy is so comfortable and relaxing with all the facilities you could need, and it’s really clear a huge amount of effort has gone into its design. It’s perfectly located to explore the “forgotten corner” which really shouldn’t be forgotten at all- we found ourselves out and about all day every day exploring as there is just so much to do, see and eat! Highlights for us were the beaches in Cawsand and Kingsand, lunch at The Canteen and going into the NCI base at Rame Head to have a go on the biggest binoculars you’d ever see! We cannot wait to return!

Been twice to the Hideaway this year and both times very good.

Super clean on arrival, the apartment has a spacious living/kitchen area with all utensils, etc that you'll need. Nice patio area with flowers and a view of the sea, and two material deckchairs are stored behind the sofa in the lounge which keeps them clean. Good bathroom and shower, large bedroom. Location is great with cafe, gift shop, restaurants on your doorstep and a short walk down into the iconic village. Bus stop 2 minutes walk, which can take you to lively Polzeath beach, Rock (ferry to Padstow £3), Wadebridge and, the other way, Launceston. Only negative I could find is that the signal on the TV main channels can break up a bit, maybe could do with some kind of booster. And maybe the pillows could be a little softer! But nit picking aside, it's a very nice place

We rented both the Hideaway and the Crows Nest.

Despite us calling and emailing John Bray with the issues, none were resolved. The Hideaway had not been cleaned on arrival, with rubbish still in bins, floor had not been hoovered. Old bed linen had been left and there was no bedding at all for us. We managed to get hold of a maintenance man who bought some bedding and towels over but how can it be right that your guests have to clean their own holiday property on arrival and make up their own bed on arrival? Bird poo all over the walls and windows. We were promised someone would come and clean these, nobody arrived. Outside areas were filthy and unusable as was the outdoor furniture. Beautiful proprieties but they are filthy. We spent around £4500 for 5 nights and the cleanliness was an absolute joke.
