"It has been a week since we stayed at S21627 and we haven't had our £50 security deposit returned despite leaving the place spotless. With other companies we have used (we take at least five short breaks a year in self catering accommodation) we are offered optional insurance, never been asked to hand cash to the owner directly). The sheets are not cotton, so we spent our Friday night driving to Pontypool to buy some, plus tea towels (none provided) and basic items like salt, pepper, olive oil, eggs and bread. I have never stayed in a property that didn't at least have these items in the store cupboard or welcome basket. If we had been advised before that the cupboards are completely empty we would have prepared for that but it didn't get our break off to the best start. On leaving there was a fairly curt note asking us to strip any beds we had slept in and to wash the sheets. We did take the sheets off and put them in the washing machine but no washing powder was provided so we couldn't put the wash through. It was a pleasant space but the lack of a few basic provisions and courtesies spoilt the experience."

"We enjoyed our holiday here, especially the hot tub. The bungalow is well positioned for walks into Monmouth, which is a lovely town, and there is a Lidl just around the corner. We would visit S21622 again but the following need attention to bring it back to expected condition. The accommodation is two thirds of a detached bungalow which is not strictly apparent from the description. Access to the accommodation is through french windows directly into the lounge. The patio furniture pictured at the front of the property is rotten and should be replaced immediately as it would be dangerous to use. The mattresses on all the beds all need replacing as they slope to the side and you can feel the springs. The shower tray does not drain quickly enough to use the shower as you would normally and has to be switched off at intervals to allow the tray to drain before it overflows onto the floor. The property needs repainting both internally and externally to bring it back up to scratch. The drive is very steep and the angle caused my car to ground so it may be better to park on the road."

"S25826 is most definitely home from home. You can literally turn up with your bag of clothes and start enjoying your holiday straight away. The kitchen is very well equipped and with a local shop just down the road (supermarkets are a short distance away) you can very quickly get settled in. The view is incredible in the daytime and in the dark, leaving you feeling remotely tucked away but the reality is everything you need is close by and the main roads to anywhere just a few minutes away. Although this is described as a cottage you need not worry about low ceilings and claustrophobic rooms. This property has very generous living and sleeping areas with higher ceilings too but without losing any of it's cottagey charm. The garden is beautiful and I would imagine it is a real treat in the summer. The dog run and kennel was very handy too. We considered taking up squatters rights and staying for ever. There isn't a single reason I can think of for not going back to S25826, although I imagine it will be very popular and difficult to get a slot very soon!!!"

"The location cannot be faulted and the hosts were very friendly and helpful; the views were stunning and a variety of bird life visited the garden. The cottage was peaceful and quiet and the lights of Abergavenny in the distance gave it a fairytale appeal. The water system for the shower and the bath was quirky but one quickly adapted. The only slight drawback was the lack of secondary heating for the conservatory/dining room. It took a while for the heat from the lounge to permeate in the morning and in the evenings leaving the door open made one area of the lounge cold; a situation easily fixed with a fan heater at certain times. Overall, we much enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it. We will certainly be back in the future to use it as a base for visiting/entertaining our daughter and her family in Cardiff, which is only an hour away. Poor weather prevented us from doing much walking but did try the old railway line and a walk round keepers pond. The Big Pit Museum at Blaenavon was well worth the visit."

"Although S21621 was beautifully furnished in a style I love. was upset on the welcome or lack of it when we arrived , Were spoken to like we would not understand written instuctions and had to be lectured for far to long even as far as to be told that there was a shower over the bath but could not use the bath it was just a shower over bath. Think I may have noticed the shower and the fact that the bath had no plug even though I think this is a bit misleading to say property has a bath you can't use but did not effect my stay, This was a late booking and was asked if I would mind arriving a little later than normal or given the choice to cancel but did not mind arriving later but on arrival was made to feel we were an inconvenience.obviously As a lot of people in the visitor book spoke of warm welcome can only assume we must have gone on a bad day. would have preferred to be told could not except booking but S21621 suited my purpose for that visit but have no wish to return."
