"We really enjoyed our stay at Woodside on the Kymin, for us it was a late booking and great it was available. The Cottage was easy enough to find, and while the drive up is steep and a bit of reversing is required to get you round the corners, it was accessible enough, wouldn't recommend taking wide or long vehicles though - as highlighted in the instructions. There are 4 bedrooms, all nicely decorated, lots of wood and white paint to give the cottage feeling, the beds (and i can't stress this enough) were very comfortable, not the usual holiday let variety of wire springs poking through thin padding! The bathrooms are great, good hot showers. The Kitchen dinner (which along with the lounge and veranda) is upstairs, and is well equiped and clean. The Veranda offers great views out over Monmouth and even as far the Sugarloaf near Abergavenny. We had one problem with the shower not turning off and dripping continually, i emailed the owner - Anwen, and she organised a plumber who turned up almost immediately! how good is that?!There are some lovely walks up to the NT Round House and there are woods to walk round with bits of Offa's dike path, you can walk into Monmouth down a footpath leading off the road up the Kymon, but we found it over grown and steep, on the return we choose to use the bridleway that comes out near the NT Roundhouse - a very pleasant if hilly walk. We also cycled down into Monmouth and the Forest of Dean, the main road (the short bit you are on) is busy and does have lots of heavy traffic on it - must be a quarry close by so we choose to return via the back of the Kymin, there are loads of forest fire roads to use so you can pretty much avoid the main road. All in all a great holiday cottage with loads to recommend it and the surrounding area."

"This wasnt quite what we expected (expected cosy cottage) as was very close to owners home & even though they went away for most of our stay had they been there we'd have been uncomfortable. The bathroom & master bedroom could only be accessed through a twin bedroom which did cause privacy issues for our party. The TV system was complicated on arrival & even once we'd mastered it found it regularly didnt work throughout our stay & picture quality poor plus whirring of projector was irritating. The toilet didnt flush away everything every time & required using the toilet brush. That said we enjoyed watching the wild rabbits in the garden & the peace & quiet of the general location. For us it was a good base to explore the area from & visit family."

"The cottage is located in the side of Kymin hill providing an excellent view of Monmouth in the valley below. Access to the cottage is via a single track road which is a sharp left turn off the road up Kymin. Unfortunately the bad weather meant we were unable to explore the area but there is good access to local footpaths and trails. The cottage itself is well furnished and recently decorated. Bedrooms have plenty of storage and beds are comfortable. The shower is excellent. One thing is that whilst the WiFi was very good and we were able to watch Netflix, we would have liked there to be a DVD player on the main TV.Would go back. Excellent value for money."

"The cottage is in a lovely location and a great base for going to places like Raglan Castle, Barry Island, Raglan Farm Park, Monmouth, etc. The outside space is good for little ones and it was easy to find. The actual cottage, however, is in need of an update, the mattresses in the bedrooms need replacing as they sag in the middle, there was mould in the shower and on the ceiling in the living room, directly under where the bath was and the general cleanliness of the place was not great. We did enjoy our stay but other cottages we've stayed at for a similar price were more modernised, clean and more comfortable."

"The setting was perfect, lovely views out of every window. The kitchen was very well equipped but it would have been nice to have had a cupboard in which to store our food. It took us four days to work out how to use the dvd! Whilst I appreciate the cottage is a barn conversion and on the whole beautifully done, it's a pity nothing was done to the creaking floors in the upstairs bedrooms, I had the downstairs bedroom and was woken every day with people walking about upstairs. The bathroom downstairs was very nice as were the upstairs shower and bathroom."
