      We had a lovely time and were surprised at the huge size of the upstairs bedroom and bathroom. Having a full size walk-in "rain" shower that I (6ft 3in) could fit under easily was great. We wanted a small cottage with a log burnder, which felt isolated with nobody around, and got exactly that. It was still close enough to town to get food/supplies easily. The internet connection was terrible (no bandwidth and huge network jitter and packet loss), but I was told this is going to be fixed soon. I resolved the issue by going into town and getting a 4g dongle device with O2 that got me a very consistnt/stable 10 megabit connection when I left it in the corner by the front door. My partner was getting 30 megabit with O2 on her phone inside the building but we didnt want to use up her limited data. I was getting hardly anything with EE on my phone, but that may be because I have a cheap phone. Suffice to say, *if* the internet is still not fixed, I would recommend bringing/getting a 4g dongle if you need any sort of internet access. It is worth noting that the CCTV is only on the outside of the building and not inside so you shouldn't need to worry about privacy concerns. We will very likely come again, and have already recommended it to our friends/family.

      Lovely Cottage, comfortable, stylish and very well equipped.

      Trelleck is a nice village and the Lion is a fantastic pub. The adjacent B road can be noisy very early in the morning (tractors etc), and busy with commuters morning and evening, but the rest of the time is not intrusive. Do not plan any walks that require you to walk along the B road as some people drive too fast and it is not safe. The Beacon Hill and Ninewells areas to the east have great walking, and can be reached either by walking along the quiet roads to the east of Trelleck or from the carparks that are just over 1km away.

      The main issue is parking.

      The on street parking is limited to 1 hour up until 6pm and although there is a free car park a 5 minute walk away we found it was often full. To stop and unload/load we had to block the road. The cottage was cute, clean and characterful but tiny. There is a very tight spiral staircase and space upstairs is quite cramped. We did however enjoy our stay as it is situated in a beautiful location with the canal towpaths brilliant for dog walking and we loved Abergavenny which is only a 15 minute drive away.

      This was the perfect holiday cottage for my partner and I and our dog.

      The cottage is easy to locate and beautifully renovated with every comfort thoughtfully provided. We arrived to a lovely hamper of goodies including Welsh cakes and also treats for the dog. The bathroom and shower are beautiful and the bed was the comfiest I've ever slept in. Gilwern itself is a great spot to meet the friendly locals and also to explore the beautiful hills around. We have already decided we want to stay again in the summer! 5 stars from us!

      I was very pleased with the property, which was clean, modern and well organised.

      I was also surprised with the size and found it very good value for money. The owner knocked on the door the next day to make sure I was comfortable and she was very pleasant. The gardens were well managed and the scenery around the cottage was lovely. I would love to stay again but would imagine it’s becoming very popular amongst Sykes members, so I will be booking in advance next time. Thanks very much for our stay.
