    Carmarthenshire Holiday Cottages

The county of Carmarthenshire sits in the south west of Wales and is marked by its three largest towns, Carmarthen, Llanelli and Ammanford. Known affectionately as ‘The Garden of Wales’, it’s also home to the National Botanic Garden of Wales. Carmarthenshire is home to mountains, rolling countryside and coast; with the eastern edge of the Brecon Beacons bordering it, known as the Carmarthen Fans, with the Cambrian mountains to the north. The Millennium Coastal Path runs along the south of the county and is where spring really bursts into life.

We've got great Carmarthenshire holiday cottages available to book, including countryside retreats, sandy beach apartments and stunning open-plan balcony homes. Bring your family, friends and even the dog, with our dog-friendly accommodation.

Holiday cottages in Carmarthenshire and throughout the rest of south Wales can be booked with full reassurance on price thanks to Snaptrip’s best price guarantee. What our customers say about their holidays

    • Michael - Verified booking

My holiday week at Dan Castell Cottage was great.

The accommodation was comfortable and spacious, especially for just two people. The owners, who resided adjacent to the cottage, were friendly, helpful and charming throughout our stay. The weather, in the lap of the gods, was pretty good. I have booked with Sykes Cottages many times in the past and have always been pleased with the accommodation provided. My only gripe with this holiday, which should have been in 2020, is with Sykes. When I tried in early 2020 to obtain a refund, as I realised due to the pandemic the holiday wasn't going to happen, I found it impossible to find a way to contact Sykes. It was basically assumed I would re-book for 2021. The money for the holiday was already with the company and although I had taken out the insurance suggested I was not about to be sent a refund. So, I re-booked the holiday for 2021 and was then told there would be a further £65 taken in March 2021, I guess due to a proposed increase in prices for this year. This happened when Sykes were, at the time, offering discounts on holiday cottages. It's easy to blame communication problems with the Covid 19 outbreak but direct contact with someone at Sykes Cottages would have solved a few problems. Regards Mike Norman

Comfortable stay, pleasant hosts, well equipped and furnished accommodation with great views.

A new ground floor patio area is no longer edged by a balustrade surround (as shown in photos). The patio now opens onto a garden area that leads into the views beyond. Much nicer! Also, inside a fabric sofa and chair has replaced the leather sofa. Equipment wise, in the kitchen an air frier and slow cooker were also provided. A decent sized bedroom with good storage in solid furniture. The view from the bedroom was good and the sheltered roof over the large balcony allowed outdoor sheltered views even in the rain (the balustrade here, remains). Decent shower and separate good sized bath in large bathroom. (Bath tap might need a little tightening as it was a little loose). Motion sensor night lights on the stairs and on route to the bathroom were useful and sensibly placed. Top tip, take easy on/off slippers or flip flops if you’re sensitive to heated/cool floors and don’t (like us) take logs – the wood burner is electric, but gives a good heat (if required) and atmospheric glow. And although the listing suggests facilities are a distance away, closer is the walkable café/tearoom/gift-shop at the base of the castle. It served daytime food, snacks and drinks.

      Excellent property.

Comfortable, warm, beautiful location with marvellous views from lounge veranda and bedroom balcony. Unfortunately, no Wi-Fi and very little (if any) mobile signal (owner’s - next door - landline number, in case of emergencies). Located in what appears to be ‘the middle of nowhere’, overlooked by the ruins of a spectacular castle (within reasonable walking distance of cottage), this is the place for peace (no sounds except birds and sheep), relaxation and getting away from everything (nearest town about 10/15 minutes drive). Numerous excellent walks from the cottage itself. A place to get away from the humdrum of everyday life, rejuvenate and recharge one’s batteries. The owner’s are excellent (there if needed, otherwise they will not impinge on your privacy/solitude). A place my wife and I would highly recommend (dependent of course, on what is desired by those who choose to stay here). For peace, quiet, relaxation, views, comfort and gorgeous location, we would definitely return.

We have stayed in some fabulous cottages in the past, but Dan Castell Cottage has been the best by far.

It is perfectly remote, yet not too far off the main road. At night, the sky is inky black, making star gazing incredible. You can lie on the bean bags on the wooden balcony and just look up. The only sounds are the babbling stream, owls hooting and the wind in the trees. Although the owners live in the house next door, they kept respectfully away but were only too helpful should we need anything. The cottage was extremely well designed and is very appointed with solid wood furniture throughout and has a very large sofa with matching armchair downstairs which is all open-plan. The fitted kitchen has a central island, a built in fridge, freezer and small dishwasher as well as an electric fan oven and built-in microwave. The bathroom has a shower, toilet, bath and handbasin. As the water is spring fed, filtered it tastes of pure Brecon water, which is exactly what it is. We would definitely love to return.

This has to be the best place we have stayed with Sykes.

The minute I saw it on the web site I knew we’d love it but as soon as we arrived in the area and saw the castle upon the hill it just took our breath away. Tanya was there to meet us and told us all about the lovely cottage and we had the most wonderful week. The cottage was extremely clean, well equipped and comfortable. The views were amazing and the thing that made it so special was the total peace and tranquility. On our first night we looked up at the starry sky and saw the Milky Way. The only sound is the river down below. The deck outside is a great place to sit and watch the birds and upstairs the covered balcony is a sun trap and great place to sit and relax. Lovely walks from the cottage including the Castle walk with stunning views of the castle and cottage. Lots of tourist information in the cottage and the wonderful owners are always happy to chat about the area.
