What our customers say about their holidays

    • The Finest Stays Team - Verified booking

There’s a place where the sea meets the sky, and the perfect harmony of luxury and comfort welcomes all who enter. Vane Tower in Torquay stands as a monument to this very promise. For our large group, it was a haven—a place where laughter echoed through spacious rooms, and memories were built with every passing hour. From the moment we stepped through the grand entrance, the house enveloped us in a warmth that was both inviting and opulent. The intricate details of the tower, coupled with the modern luxury comforts inside, created the pertect ambience suiting our group. Each room offered its own sanctuary, while the shared spaces invited togetherness—a perfect balance for friends and family alike where we enjoyed lingering chats. movies and laughter. The coastal views, visible from nearly every window, were a constant reminder of the famous English Riviera surrounding us, and we felt lucky to experience it all as a group. The large dining areas hosted long meals filled with conversation, gorgeous food prepared on the Aga and the spacious living rooms embraced moments of shared fun. Vane Tower gave us more than just a place to stay—it gave us an experience, one that will be etched in our hearts forever. A remarkable retreat, for those seeking to gather in style and comfort, Vane Tower proved to be a flawless choice for our unforgettable stay.

If Vane Hall had a middle name, it would be “Luxury.” Tucked in the heart of Torquay, this delightful retreat swept us off our feet from the moment we arrived. Sleeping six with ease, it became the perfect stage for our coastal adventure—a home where every detail whispered comfort and every corner invited us to relax. Days were spent exploring the local gems, but the real magic unfolded as the sun dipped low. The kitchen became the heart of our evenings, buzzing with laughter and clinking glasses as we whipped up sumptuous suppers. The dining table hosted long, lingering meals that flowed into conversations when we retired to the lounge on the enveloping sofas—moments that felt as effortless as they were memorable. Each bedroom was a haven in itself, with plush linens and soft lighting that made bedtime something to look forward to. But let’s not forget the garden terrace—a perfect morning coffee spot with views that stole the show every single day. Vane Hall is more than just a holiday home; it’s a place where six souls can come together, unwind, and create stories worth sharing. We arrived as travellers, but we left as a team bound by the joy of a truly boutique escape.

      It was a lovely house.

The actual street address isn't as sexy as Babbacombe Hall but the location is really central to get to a number of lovely places, often on foot. The bedrooms are lovely and all well appointed. I doubt the lounge could really accommodate the whole group if the maximum advertised number was present but we were only 10 or 11 and actually tended to congregate evenings in the dining room. The kitchen is well equipped but the ovens and hob were a bit slow and would lack capacity to prepare meals for a full complement. There isn't much preparation space but we managed very well. We had a professional chef for one evening and brought in the BBQ tables for extra prep space. The house was lovely. I find that Sykes is easy to book with but if you have any out of the ordinary requests, the process is deliberately vague for getting answers.

Had a very comfortable stay in this lovely house.

Having the Hot Tub and garden maintained daily meant it was easy to use either whenever we wanted to - and we did. The House had enough equipment for all of us which was great, though a cupboard/space just for storing our food would have been useful. We really enjoyed being so close to the promenade, the Tessier Gardens, the Model village and the shops and having leaflets in the house made it easy to find other places to visit. Having our own parking space was a big relief as we had 3 biggish cars between us and parking is at a premium in seaside towns. I would highly recommend staying here for itself and as a good base for the 'English Riviera'. PS would also recommend the Local History society's free walk round Babbacombe / St Marychurch (every Tuesday in summer) - interesting and informative. Thank you

This property is in a beautiful rural setting, and has lovely grounds, consisting of garden and orchard. It is only fair to point out that some views are slightly marred by pylons and the orchard is mainly set on a fairly steep slope. It should be noted that the cottages are accessed (from Broadhempston village) via essentially a narrow single track road (narrower than other local lanes) over the last half mile or so, which has few passing places. Having said that, we were lucky and only encountered another car once and had to reverse. Owner Dave was very amenable and friendly. We were a bit unlucky with the weather and so we made good use of the on site swimming pool which is of a good size and condition. Overall we did enjoy our stay in this property.
