Should you be tempted to venture out, head down to the shops, cafes and restaurants of Paignton (2 miles) where you can try out some of the local seafood. It is also home to a beautiful beach as well as a pier, promenade and beautiful parks. Further afield, there is a huge selection of beaches and romantic coves to discover along the coast and for a tranquil afternoon, Agatha Christie’s former house, Greenway, now a National Trust property, is a welcome escape. Have a look around the atmospheric house and end the day by sampling a traditional Devon cream tea in the Barn Cafe.
