What our customers say about their holidays

    • Nicholas - Verified booking

We have just finished a wonderful short break at Tidewater.

It was absolutely perfect for 4 families (8 adults and 5 young children) with beautiful, large rooms which provide enough space to spend lots of time together and have plenty of privacy when needed. The heart of the house is very much the kitchen / dining room which was absolutely perfect for socialising and exceptionally well arranged for cooking/preparing meals. The living room has an amazing view over the countryside and has the ideal sofa for sitting on and watching the world go by. The weather wasn’t right for opening the bi-fold doors but it would be easy to imagine how, in the summer, that would be an amazing feature to make the most of. The rain also limited use of the outdoor area/furniture but it is extremely well laid out and would be fantastic in better weather. There was no amount of rain which was going to stop the kids making the most of the immaculate play facilities though; they loved the trampoline, slide and swings in equal measure (puddle suits and wellies were required!). The bedrooms are all well presented and comfortable - the master is a particularly special highlight while the ‘kids bedroom’ with the bunkbeds is a really unique addition for this sort of property and enjoyed. The library of books in there is a lovely touch which was enjoyed. More practically, the instructions for everything from accessing the WiFi to sorting the recycling to how to operate the lights are all provided and clear to understand. Additionally, the hosts were available to answer any questions and checked in with a non-intrusive and reassuring frequency which was appreciated. It is worth noting that the house is at the top of a long and steep single tracked hill to get you out into the beautiful countryside - not challenging to those familiar with Devon country roads, but worth a Google Maps check for any city-dwellers only used to urban roads (as proved by the family members who had driven down from Birmingham and shared their surprise at the road!). This was a first rate property and set up for a holiday home away from home and cannot be highly recommended enough. The only question now is when we can get back for another visit…

      It was a lovely house.

The actual street address isn't as sexy as Babbacombe Hall but the location is really central to get to a number of lovely places, often on foot. The bedrooms are lovely and all well appointed. I doubt the lounge could really accommodate the whole group if the maximum advertised number was present but we were only 10 or 11 and actually tended to congregate evenings in the dining room. The kitchen is well equipped but the ovens and hob were a bit slow and would lack capacity to prepare meals for a full complement. There isn't much preparation space but we managed very well. We had a professional chef for one evening and brought in the BBQ tables for extra prep space. The house was lovely. I find that Sykes is easy to book with but if you have any out of the ordinary requests, the process is deliberately vague for getting answers.

Had a very comfortable stay in this lovely house.

Having the Hot Tub and garden maintained daily meant it was easy to use either whenever we wanted to - and we did. The House had enough equipment for all of us which was great, though a cupboard/space just for storing our food would have been useful. We really enjoyed being so close to the promenade, the Tessier Gardens, the Model village and the shops and having leaflets in the house made it easy to find other places to visit. Having our own parking space was a big relief as we had 3 biggish cars between us and parking is at a premium in seaside towns. I would highly recommend staying here for itself and as a good base for the 'English Riviera'. PS would also recommend the Local History society's free walk round Babbacombe / St Marychurch (every Tuesday in summer) - interesting and informative. Thank you

This property was very clean and comfortable as well as being in a brilliant position for Teignmouth town centre and exploring South Devon.

The town centre and sea front was literally a four to five minute stroll. There were two allocated parking spaces on site which being so close to the town was a bonus. On our arrival there was an extremely generous 'welcome pack' waiting for us with everything you could need to keep you going. The area was very quiet at night even with a lovely pub just over the road. The property owners, Dave and Jenny, were extremely good hosts. Being the first guests staying at this property we had a couple of minor issues which were rectified immediately. You couldn't ask for better hosts. The house was very well equipped and the quality of the fittings and the linen were top rate. This is one property that we would certainly like to visit again in the future. Thank you Dave & Jenny!

      Harbour Lodge was fantastic!

It was perfect for our group of 8 (made up of four couples) in our late 20s/early 30s. We had a couple of nights in, playing games and having some drinks and then had a couple of nights out at the local pubs and bars. The Blue Anchor is just next door and has a brilliant atmosphere. The beach is just a ten minute walk and the lido (we went there for the day as the tide was too far in) was only a further 4 mins from the beach. The lido was fab with its outdoor pool and sunbathing beds. Harbour Lodge was really clean and had everything we needed. The facilities were excellent and the hot tub was sublime! We will definitely be booking again in the future! Thank you Harbour Lodge!
