What our customers say about their holidays

    • David - Verified booking

      Todlaw Farmhouse exceeded our expectations.

It enjoys a wonderfully tranquil location with marvellous views yet is within a short distance of the amenities in Jedburgh. It was the perfect location for us. The property is extremely comfortable, tastefully furnished and presented with a high standard of cleanliness. The Welcome Basket of comestibles was much appreciated. It was a delight to sit outside in the evenings looking down on the large pond/small lake below and watching the swifts skimming across its surface and the surface of the neighbouring fields. We enjoyed our stay so much that we have already booked it for a week next May. It should perhaps be made clearer on the directions that you need to approach the access lane from the Jedburgh direction and not attempt to make a left turn if approaching from the south. This is a minor niggle; it's a tremendous property for those seeking comfort, peace and quiet.

This is by far the best holiday accommodation we have ever had the pleasure to stay in.

The house was wonderful, big, very well equipped with everything you could possibly need or want. The cleanliness was outstanding and all in all we had a terrific time in the Scottish Borders. The owners even provided a really fantastic hamper full of very welcome goodies. The boys (2 small doggies) had also been thought of with a welcome pack of goodies just for them!! From beginning to end, this experience has fuelled us to have many more breaks. I hope other guests treat this house with respect and love as it is very clear that the owners go out of their way to make sure it is a real home from home. The views from the property give you a real sense that you are in the countryside. The weather was very kind to us which really was the icing on the cake. Alan, Lin, Billy & Rufus

Overall, a very nice, clean spacious property with comfortable furniture and excellent views.

A good base to explore the area, and a quiet and relaxing safe retreat after a day out. There was good outdoor furniture provided front and back to enjoy the position of the sun and enjoy the local picturesque views. Our Grandchildren enjoyed the very safe garden and the local wildlife / farm animals. In the double bedroom, it would have been useful for us to have an electric shower fitted above the bath. This would save having to use one of the showers fitted in the other two rooms. That said, having en-suite in each bedroom and a downstairs toilet was a welcome bonus. The property has its odd quirks. Not really an issue but some of the doors could do with easing and oiling to prevent creaks and odd stiffness. We would certainly be happy to return if visiting the area in future.

A lovely, very spacious cottage in a quiet and beautiful setting.

A place created for comfort and relaxation, very well equipped and with the extra touches it was almost perfect. A carton of milk and a hamper of goodies left by the owners were very much appreciated. Binoculars and walking boots are a good idea. Binoculars to watch the wildlife, wildfowl on the small lake just below the cottage, deer in the field just beyond and the badger in the garden feeding on the windfall apples. Walking boots as there are quite a number of walks around Jedburgh within walking distance from the cottage. These walks are not shown on the OS map but there are a variety of walks shown in a folder thoughtfully left by the owners. We will certainly be recommending Todlaw to family and friends and would definitely return in the future.

      A perfect two week break.

The house is large and comfortable, with beautiful, calming views of the rolling Borders countryside. Ever changing skies, green fields, the sounds of birds - and quiet. Lovely long (or short) walks. It is an easy drive to many places of interest, and at the end of the day, as you come up the lane to the house, you are glad to be 'home'. . .. to chop some kindling and start the log burner - not that you need it, because the central heating is efficient, staying cosy within the old thick walls. Jim and Sharon (and other family and neighbours) were just lovely - helpful and welcoming. I would love to come back to see the changes in another season.....maybe autumn, when all the fields and trees would have changed from their Spring colours.
