What our customers say about their holidays

    • Ben - Verified booking

Our holiday at the Old Byre in Jedburgh was superb.

I have given the highest ratings on all questions asked, not because it's easy & quick but because this is how much we enjoyed our time in the Old Byre. My wife, myself and our 20 month daughter had a ball. We were looking forward to it when we saw the photos. And this is what made us know we had booked the right place when we arrived - what you see on the photos is EXACTLY what you get on arrival. Many other places could learn from this fact. We were made to feel welcome from the get go - cheeky we arrival present on the table. On that - the hostess/manager couple are superb. Nothing is a hassle - even stupid requests from years truly on how to operate the wood burning stove (which is a beast in the very best sense of the word). Kirsty and Sandy just added to our enjoyment at the Byre all the more. I'm from the Borders (Peebles) so know the area well. Or so I thought. If you are into cycling there are simply magic wee routes around here - two of Simon Warren's top 100 cycling climbs of Scotland are just a few K's from your door, 1km in the case of one of them. I could go on - Jed has so much history dripping from it, all easily accessible even with a toddler in tow. Plenty of other lovely wee towns close by too for days out. Quick wee mention for the B6357 too. Petrol-heads or cyclists - do yourselves a favour - if you've not driven it or peddled it do it, it rocks almost as much as the Old Byre does. We will return to The Old Byre and cannae wait.

We had a lovely week staying at Bonjedward Farm Mill.

The cottage was very comfortable and really well equipped. There was just 2 of us and a dog so we had lots of space but it would be comfortable for a large family or 2 small families. We were there during a very cold week where it got down to -5C at night but we were still cosy sitting in the living room with the wood burner lit. The owners were very friendly and there if you needed them. It is a working farm and it would be great for children to see the sheep and cows up close. There is a large private garden which is ample for dogs or children to play. We didn’t use the outdoor space due to the weather but I can imagine it would be lovely to sit out there on a summers evening. Lots of local walks, along with plenty to do within an hours drive. Holy Island at Lindisfarne and walks at Kielder Forest were a couple of our favourites. If we were to explore the Scottish Borders again we would not hesitate in rebooking this cottage.

Just returned from a wonderful few days with friends at Bogan in Coldingham. Gorgeous village with friendly, welcoming people, especially the neighbours. The cottage was pristine, comfortable, well equipped and practical. We were blessed with fabulous weather so enjoyed sitting in tranquil garden listening to the birds and watching the deer visiting every evening across the burn. Lovely walk down to Coldingham Bay which is stunning and also has toilets and a beach cafe. Handy Spar shop for any bits and bobs you forget or need, like ice for the G&Ts after a day exploring the beautiful Scottish Borders. Visited St Abbs, North Berwick, Paxton House, all great. Excellent fish and chips on the harbour at Eyemouth where we also bought freshly caught crab and seafood to eat back at the cottage. Will definitely return, thank you.

Wow, the Byre exceeded our expectations as this is the best cottage we have stayed in.

Beautifully decorated and furnished throughout which is fully equipped to meet every need for your holiday. Ample space for four people which offers an exceptional place to stay. Absolutely loved the spacious walk in shower rooms and walk in wardrobes. The thoughtful welcome pack was also very much appreciated and reflects the attention to detail provided by the property owners and hosts Sharon and Jim. The Byre cottage offers a welcome retreat with gorgeous views and is the best place to stay for exploring the Scottish Borders. Alternatively if you want a restful place where you can 'chill', relax and recharge your batteries, the Byre is the place to book. Would highly recommend and we will certainly return. Thank you to Sharon and Jim

The Old Byre is a beautifully converted barn which the owners have done proud in it's development .

Based on the outskirts of the border town of Jedburgh in the middle of very peaceful farm land with lots of wildlife, yet only 20mins walk into the town centre it is a ideal for the perfect quiet break. It is also a dog owners delight with lots of walks in the area. The cottage a spacious with plenty of light, furnished to an excellent standard throughout. We are both looking forward to coming back in 2021, on a final note the hosts Jim and Sharon left a most generous welcome pack and even some treats for our dog Jack, a great example of how to welcome old and new guests to a property and presents the "Goodwill" factor. 10/10 for the hosts and the property
