What our customers say about their holidays

    • Joanna - Verified booking

Property was clean and equiped well enough for our needs.

Living room had good sized seating and dining area, tv had netflix which was a bonus. Kitchen was a good size. Downstairs bathroom was also a good size, bonus of an upsatirs toilet and small sink. Great storage areas and extra towels were great. Decent sized bedrooms, beds all made up, 2 doubles and one with twin beds, only down point was my husband and i chose to sleep in the single beds to let the children take opportunity for double beds and the matresses for these two beds were very firm so neither of us had a decent sleep all week. Property was, as mentioned a stone throw from the beach which being the bottom end would explain its quietness. The town centre itself (a 10-15min walk) was only small but had shops you would usually look for...takeaways, supermarkets (Tesco being round the corner), bit of everything shop but not much else. Amuzement was dog friendly and had a bit of everything but not very big. If you want to take a drive there are other places to visit Beverley deffo worth a visit! All in had a nice dog friendly break.

I am sorry to say we were very disappointed with the property and decided to leave before the end of the week.

We have stayed at many Sykes properties and have always been impressed with the quality unfortunately this was not the case with Driftwood. On arrival it took over 15 minutes to gain entry to the property. There were 3 keys with no labels that would fit the lock to the entrance porch but none of them would turn in the lock. After much jiggling around we eventually gained entry to be greeted with a very strong smell of mould. The whole place seemed to be uncared for. We took some photos as examples but there is nowhere to upload them. Some examples would be: Shelf over radiator in downstairs bedroom missing but brackets still sticking out of wall. One bedside lamp not working in upstairs double bedroom, it would occasionally flash so we unplugged it. Hole in vanity unit in upstairs toilet where presumable a sink used to be? Bedroom light switch not in bedroom. Lights on stairs not working Laundry basket cracked with hole in it. Button lying on chair. Mould in the shower. Wire sticking out of wall in twin bed bedroom.

A beautiful house in a very good location (major supermarket within 100 yards or so of the entrance to the street) will be fantastic if anyone wants a beach location for the summer (its at the other end of the street!

!) 3 very good sized bedrooms on 2 floors (1 downstairs makes it ideal if anyone is slightly less mobile), a wonderfully equipped kitchen and a good sized lounge/dining room complete with super sized sofa (even had electric recliner section) and the most amazing log burner!! (a most welcome addition for chilly winters nights). The tv in the lounge even had Netflix so it really was home from home :-) We truly had a wonderful stay and would highly recommend Driftwood, they even go the extra mile by providing little extras for your 4 legged friends like dishes, towels, poo bags, treats and so on. The games room is a small porch area with a cabinet containing board games, beach games equipment etc and extra equipment for the beach is provided in the shed outside if you need it. I genuinely have nothing negative to say we had a wonderful time. Thankyou for a lovely break, we will definitely return again in the future.

The cottage is lovely and in a fantastic location for great walks, quiet beaches and a rainy day trip to York was within an hour.

The hosts are incredibly welcoming and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. My only criticism, which was unique to us and you cant tell from the pictures is that the house is next to a 60mph B road, with the main bedroom window opening onto the road, which seemed to have quite a bit of traffic from 7.30am. So if you are an early riser then this won't be a problem, but if you are hoping for a bit of a lie in on your holiday (as we were) then we found that element a bit frustrating. Other than that, the cottage is lovely and in a fantastic location with a nice meadow and pond behind the house, with plenty of space for the kids to roam. There's even a resident Barn Owl which was a real highlight!

    • Heather - Verified booking

I came to the property with my mum and dog for a relaxing break and that’s just what we got.

The location of the cottage is ideal for exploring the local area and visits to the coast a short drive away. The Cottage was well maintained, clean and comfortable. There was plenty cookwear, plates, pans etc to cook up a feast although they could benefit from a new frying pan as it had a wobbly handle. My only suggestion for improvement would be to add a side gate to the property between robins nest and the car parking spaces. This would allow you to let your dog off the lead while enjoying the outdoor courtyard, as with my inquisitive pointer I could only sit and enjoy the space with her on the lead otherwise she would be off sniffing for rabbits.
