The bustling historic village of South Cave is situated in the East Riding of Yorkshire. It lies approximately 13 miles to the west of Hull and has excellent road links to the east coast and the famous city of York. There are good amenities in the village, with a wide array of shops, pubs, restaurants, tea rooms, a Post Office and a bank, and a monthly farmers’ market held in the market square. Cave Castle is a central landmark, a gothic mansion house, which is now a hotel and the accompanying grounds form the local golf club. There are some pretty walks from the village centre, including the Yorkshire Wolds Way long distance trail, which passes to the east end of the village. The surrounding area is peppered with traditional market towns, including Beverley and Market Weighton, whilst the seaside town of Hornsea can be reached within an hour’s drive. South Cave provides a good base for exploring the countryside, the cities of Hull and York and the many attractions in the area.

A lovely welcome basket greeted us, which was a really wonderful surprise! The kitchen has everything you could ask for and has been very thoughtfully kitted out. The cottage is extremely warm and cosy, the sitting room is perfect and the beds are very comfortable. The bathroom is smart, with a brilliant shower. The entire cottage was spotlessly clean, inviting and beautifully decorated. Parking was very easy too. My only grumble is that the bathroom door does not close at all, which meant privacy was an issue! I would recommend this cottage, we really enjoyed our stay here, many thanks!

Comfy armchair and bed (if a bit low for our age group), but I donât know how to get comfortable on that type of sofa. We had a problem with the shower, it emptied very slowly. We had to turn it off to avoid a flood. It must have been a problem for the previous holiday makers, but maybe they did not report it. These were minor problems, and the owners responded quickly to our texts. We can certainly recommend Rose Cottage.
