One of the few premises I have been in where the photographs on-line don't do justice to the size of this property. Bright, comfortable and well fitted, and impressive interior design. The hamper provided was also very good. Staff on the estate were friendly, helpful and cheerful. Food in the restaurant was very good, and the cafe was very pleasant Loss of a star for the following issues. We rarely felt warm in the bathroom, and adjustment of the temperature was too complex for this technophobe. Also, as the shower has an open end, it ***** in cold air, so it wasn't a comfortable experience. First use of it, on full, resulted in flooding part of the bathroom. It therefore wasn't possible to have it on full. I felt the heavy shutter screen provided to give some privacy across the front door, could be considered a hazard in the event of attempting to escape a fire. Wouldn't vertical blinds be better? They can also be drawn across. One of the exterior lights, at the bathroom end, is low and I banged my head on it. The two either side of the front door are higher, so why not this one? Finally, the A5 road is alongside, and although it did not affect our sleep I can see that in summer, sat on the terrace the noise could intrude.

We have stayed previously in 2017 and a couple of issues still are outstanding as mentioned by several people in the visitors book. Otherwise it would have been 5 stars. One we consider to be dangerous The wooden privacy door screens. I have mobility issues and when alone in the Potting Shed found them difficult and unsafe to move - easily able to topple ( 5 broken hinges) and cause a serious injury.Even my husband found them unwieldy and cumbersome. The underfloor heating in the very large bathroom was not switched on but was eventually sorted, however it does not remain on and the bathroom is very cold without it, pulling in a draught to the open ended shower. That being said the place is prisitine and lovely to stay in. The grounds are a bonus and well kept. Just a note to say that the Deli is no longer in the grounds and we feel this is such a shame because it was very handy for picking up fresh goods and we missed its coffee shop area too, so bring back the Deli and its coffee shop!! Using the Granary Brasserie for breakfasts and as a coffee area doesn't work. Kind Regards

I spent five wonderful days and nights at Abbey View Farm cottage last week.

I just needed time for myself with my greyhound, Blue, which is what I found, be it taking walks around the area, or relaxing in the garden where all you could hear was the water feature and the birds. We took several walks up to the Abbey which is only half a mile away. If you want a relaxing place to stay, or a base for visiting near or far, you will certainly not be disappointed. Marion and John were very accommodating, making sure I had everything I needed, and if not I only had to ask. Marion has provided plenty of information for eating out and places of interest to visit. She also provided lovely boxes of treats for humans and dogs alike, which was much appreciated by both of us. There are lots of lovely touches to make your stay extra comfortable, again for humans and dogs. I left feeling a little sad that I was leaving, but I also left feeling totally relaxed in a most wonderfully peaceful place. A promise to myself? I will return Marion.

Abbey View Farm Cottage was a wonderful choice, in an attractive area of countryside, with friendly and helpful owners (Marion & John).

It had everything necessary for us to enjoy our stay in a peaceful setting, as well as a welcome pack of cake & wine (in addition to the more normal milk, bread etc !). The cottage is fully furnished with a comfortable bed and with plenty of hot water, and was beautifully clean when we arrived. The only snag (if, like us, you are elderly / stiff / arthritic), you may find the sofa rather low and difficult to get up from. However, there was also two armchairs so we didn’t use the sofa! There is plenty of room for parking, and the private garden was a delightful place to sit and and have a coffee / drink / snooze (depending on your wishes) We found lots of places to visit nearby (including a local butcher selling the “best pies in Staffordshire” - we devided the claim was valid. We would recommend Abbey Farm View Cottage wholeheartedly - if’s a pity we can only give it 5 Stars and not 5+. Jim
