What our customers say about their holidays

Beautiful location and the entrance is stunning as you drive through the main stable gates.

The lodge certainly has a wow factor when you walk in! Kitchen is well set up with plenty of cooking pots, crockery, baking things etc.. Fairly stingy supply of consumables - we ran out of washing up liquid, hand soap and toilet roll in our week stay and had to go buy some more. Lodge is very drafty, but the central heating works very well so we were toasty warm for our Xmas stay. General maintenance of the property was a bit low- fridge leaked a bit, upstairs shower leaked through the ceiling, shower risers didn’t hold the shower heads up very well, built-in bath plugs didn’t work (annoying when we have small children and couldn’t use the baths): lots of small issues that weren’t deal breakers but just a bit annoying. Towels were supposed to be changed over during our stay but weren’t, maybe because it was Christmas. Lovely short walk to be had around the estate; we especially enjoyed looking around the Church and old cemetery. All in we had a great stay despite all of the minor issues.

Chetwynd is a fabulous place to stay with a group of friends or family.

It is spacious, well equipped and cosy. The beds were fine, there's lots of comfortable seating, a big dining table and a we'll-stocked kitchen. Generally, the cleanliness was good and there was plentiful hot water throughout the day. There are a few dusty corners and wonky handles so, if you are looking for a pristine, Home and Country-style property, this maybe isn't the one for you. What it does offer is an interesting history, plenty of quirkiness and, for us, certainly delivered on the wow factor. Owners were very helpful and informative and sorted out a minor issue promptly and with no fuss.

Incredible property for a family get-together at Christmas: spotlessly clean, beautifully decorated and supremely comfortable.

The kitchen was superbly equipped with all new baking trays and roasting dishes - which given we were cooking Christmas dinner was a blessing. I loved that the living space is all-in-one: means that if you are the cook, you're not away from the action. Lovely walks around, too, and it was a treat to walk out into the yard and sea the horses. Huge thanks as well for your huge kindness in helping to recover Peter Bear! My daughter has had him since her first Christmas, so we are very grateful for your help in recovering him again

      Not happy at all.

After a 14 hours drive from The Netherlands we found a very dirty property with dirty carpets, food left in oven & dishwasher, no cleaning done prior to arriving and all beds were dirty with blood stains on the sheets, terrible. We could not stay due to how dirty it was and left the property within two hours of arriving to a hotel. My legal representative has recommended we seek compensation for the hotel costs. I am still waiting for a full refund. Can you please inform me when I will receive the refund to my account.

Lovely stay at the Talbot Lodge!

Was easy to get to with the directions to the lodge being simple to follow. Beautiful place with lots of amazing features and lots of room for 5 adults, a baby and a dog! Great amount of posted/serving dishes etc for any occasion. Would have been nice if there was some kind of surface spray so that we could clean during our stay and maybe some salt and pepper. Overall an amazing stay and we will be back!!
