What our customers say about their holidays

Just back after 3 nights at the cottage and what can I say but WOW!

Sandend was exactly what the doctor ordered and the batteries are fully recharged. The views are literally jaw dropping, I think I spent more time sitting outside the cottage looking at them than sitting in the cottage. The cottage was as described and provided everything we needed, in fact the photos on the website and description probably do not do it justice as it was spotless and there are no bannisters on the stairs. We shall be booking again in the near future, rate it that highly but as always, some constructive feedback... Be aware the bins are round the side of the house, don't just place your black bins out on a Monday, use the proper bins. The sofa is most definitely not very comfortable. The smart TV can be a bit laggy, just switching it off and on again with the remote sorts it out. We didn't get any logs for the burner, just kindling but can get them at the other village garges.

Wow, what an incredible stay we’ve had.

On arrival we were welcomed to a bottle of Prosecco and a lovely note. To our surprise tea, coffee, sugar and fresh milk were all provided which meant we were able to put our feet up and relax straight away after a long drive! I couldn’t fault a single thing on our stay as every little detail has been thought out by the owners to ensure guests are comfortable during their stay. Everything was immaculately clean and the bed was SO comfortable. To top it off the dolphins were visible from the living room window as the sun was setting, to be cosy inside watching the dolphins is an experience like no other. We will certainly be back in summer to experience this all over again! We enjoyed many a cosy night in with the log burner on and spending hours playing card games and jigsaws which again were all provided by the owners which was a lovely touch! We really didn’t want to leave and felt so at home here.

Enjoyed a few days at west pier cottage last week.

Perfect for watching the sea and managed to see some dolphins. The property was well furnished with good quality furniture. Double bedroom was nicely decorated with a fantastic comfortable bed. Just bought a mattress topper as I found it that comfy. The kitchen was well equipped. No oven but was told that when I booked. Didn't mind as there was two air fryers one being air fryer oven which I use at home. There we're workmen next door but didn't hear them as the walls are very thick. Banff is not far away and have good food shops and enjoyed happy haddock fish and chips which is a couple of streets away. Owner's we're a phone call away which was good to know. Only thing that was disappointing was the weather. Wet and windy all week. Couldn't be helped I'm afraid. Definitely recommend. Christine

Poor level of cleaning, for example dried food on cutlery and dried on rings of milk in fridge, note saying shower leaks and to ensure bathmat is put down to catch the water that escapes when showering.

The bathmat was saturated for the duration of our stay as the volume of water escaping is excessive. The listing states there is central heating, this central heating, is in the main, plug in portable oil heaters, these were in my opinion inadequate when cold weather. There is only one mirror in the whole cottage, being a bathroom mirror, for such a highly rated cottage there should be at least one mirror upstairs plus there was no where to hang any clothing up in the main bedroom. Main lounge furniture was a sofa bed unit which wasn’t very comfortable for 4 staying. Only 3 glasses unless you use wine glasses. In its favour the cottage is in a perfect location with stunning views from most windows. The owners should make more of this in their listing.

      This is basic bare minimum.

Toilet door has not been hung properly and jams. Bath seal not done properly. Would remove most of damp smell from this end area. Shower screen useless. Bare minimum of cutlery and towels. No mattress covers and poor quality bedding. Mattresses atrocious. No storage in 2 bedrooms. No facilities in garden for drying. Kitchen cupboard sliding door needs hung properly. Good wi fi. General area is very run down. Macduff has become a dump and not what i remember. Strange place for a holiday let. We won't be back. Parking sometimes difficult. Not a safe area at night and noisy neighbours. The rest of the coastal villages seem not to have got as run down. Aberdeenshire is still a place we will visit but Macduff will not be on our list.
