"The location of this property is why I would recommend it. A two minute walk to the train station & then a very short 15/20 minute journey into central London, makes this a great place to stay on the outskirts, if you want to spend your days sightseeing in London. Winchmore Hill itself has some great dining pubs & restaurants. The cottage itself, although very quaint, isn't very practical as a space to come back to relax in, which is the downside. It feels very formal & is over packed with unnecessary old furniture and knick knacks. It feels more like staying in a B&B or an older Aunts house. The stairs are extremely steep & the kitchen is on the first floor with the bedrooms which makes it difficult to cook anything & then bring it downstairs to eat. There is no DVD player & not enough comfortable sofa's to relax on an evening. The bedrooms don't have proper wardrobes so be prepared to literally live out of your case. Clean & tidy, but not practical for a family."

"I loved that little cottage. The kitchen/living room on the ground level with the wooden floor, armchairs and the two window is very comfy and bright. The second floor has a very hugh, comfortable bed, wardrobe and dresser, and again two windows for air and light. And the bathroom upstairs, so cleverly installed! With two Velux-windows.And not to forget Bob and Alison, such a great couple. The small treats, like fresh milk in the fridge for the first tea or a cake! Were do you get that? I never had that before.Despite being on a busy road during the day, the nights were very quite. The location was perfect for either starting a walk right from the doorstep or for driving to a nice place to stroll through the great Chilterns landscape - a walkers dream.I can absolutely recommend S38648 Cottage and will stay there again if I should come back to that region of England in the future.Thank you, Alison and Bob, for having me and making my week in Naphill so wonderful."

"A secluded gem... We got a genuinely warm and friendly welcome from the owners, Kate and Charles, who live in the house across the garden. The cottage is a 10 mins walk from Hambleden. It was spotlessly clean and well-presented when we arrived, with homemade biscuits, marmalade, and ginger curd given as thoughtful extras. Kate and Charles are enthusiastic about their gem of a property and the wildlife they are striving to attract. The grounds are completely enclosed which was important to us with our dog who has zero road sense. We were able to let him wander around the garden freely. There are wonderful walks nearby and Kate and Charles are happy to point out routes."

"This is a lovely little cottage with all home comforts provided. We were pleased that it had a very comfy bed as this is something many owners don't seem to consider (rock-hard mattresses seem to be commonplace). The shower room was well fitted too, as was the kitchen. Kate and Charles were incredibly welcoming, and there were lots of extra treats provided, including home-made shortbread and jam. Although the garden was shared with the owners, they made it clear we could sit anywhere that suited us, and equally, that the dogs were allowed to roam. The local village is very pretty and the pub served some delicious food. All-in-all a good break."

"A lovely welcome made by the owners, who went out of their way to make sure we were comfortable. Great location for accessing many parts of this beautiful county. The cottage was bright and clean. The only negative was that its a cottage suitable for short people. We are not tall ourselves and managed on the ground floor and in the bedroom but the bathroom in the roof area was another matter. We both hit our heads badly at times and very often. This cottage isnt suitable for tall'ish people and perhaps this should have been stated, unless I missed it? Overall it was splendid and we had a great time there."
