The cottage we stayed at was perfect for our needs.
There were three in our party, plus a dog, but we could have easily taken six. We walked straight out of the cottage and right into the countryside from the front door. Because we had the dog, we were not so bothered about spending time on the beach, and really enjoyed the country walks. It was possible to walk to the beach from the cottage, but it was a little bit of a trek, and wouldn't have been easy with a family. However, very easy access for driving to all of Dorset's local attractions - Abbotsbury, Jurassic coast, Ringstead Lulworth Cove/Durdle Door. It was very easy to have the dog there - there is a stated preference for animals not to go upstairs, but it was quite easy to block the stairs off to prevent this. The area surrounding the cottage was pretty much enclosed - while we wouldn't have left the dog wandering around by herself (as she might have found a way out), while we were sitting in the garden, it was very easy to keep her safe. The cottage was in a very secluded location, so it wasn't a big worry if the dog barked occasionally. The house had all the ameneties (TV with lots of channels & streaming services, dishwasher, two bathrooms, indoor & outdoor eating areas, patio furniture, board games, books) we needed to entertain us if it was raining , or if we stayed in in the evening, or if we wanted to sit outside enjoying the sunshine. The beds were really comfortable, and we all slept well. The Smuggler's Inn pub was very easy to walk to, and does great food, & has an enormous outdoor seating area. There was a handy village shop & a farm shop within 5 mins walk, & small local supermarkets were a close drive nearby. We had a very enjoyable stay, and will be back.

When we booked the description said there were three cottages and a big shared garden.
In reality that garden had new cottages built on it so the "garden" was actually a what felt like a gravel filled sheep pen with a rough wooden fence looking at the side of the new cottages with no privacy at all. The cottage itself is tiny. The sofa faces 90 degrees to the television so you can't all watch a film comfortably together on a rainy day. The shower works for people under 5 feet tall. If you raise the head the water goes all over the floor and toilet. There is also no towel rail in the bathroom. In the main bedroom the mirror is above the headboard so unless you can apply makeup and do your hair from 6 feet away, make sure you take a mirror. There is no dressing table to put things on. All in all, we were very disappointed for the amount we paid. We have stayed in far nicer cottages. But the biggest drawback for us was finding out the garden was no longer there and we were restricted to a gravel filled pen with a rough fence.

We had a very enjoyable stay at Garland cottage, the on-site manager was very helpful and friendly.
We were pleasantly surprised to find a selection of dog treats left for our Reggie along with food and water bowls, and many other items that we usually have to take with us such as tea towels and washing up liquid. The accommodation was very clean upon arrival and well presented. The only minor negative was that the sofa in the living room is getting a bit tired and uncomfortable to sit on for any length but this could be said of a lot of people's homes. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a phone call the day after arrival checking that everything was ok, unfortunately I missed the call but got the message later and was unable to return the call due to reception issues. I can definitely recommend Garland, and would be happy to stay in the other accommodation available at Wey Stables, and am likely to return in the near future! Thank you.

Roman lodge was a lovely stay.
The property is in a very quiet location which is perfect for relaxing but still close enough to Weymouth and all the facilities you need. The lodge itself was very comfortable, the space was well thought out. The beds and bedding were proper quality. We rate this property very highly. Only a couple of suggestions which are minor would be a second tv in one of the bedrooms, the fridge freezer needs a defrost which is understandable due to the busy season not having time to be done- could a small stand up freezer be provided or something on the kitchen counter? And finally another one of those delightful lounge chairs which are the most wonderful chairs weâve sat in! Overall a stunning stay and we will return

The property was clean, well maintained and well equipped, but with some niggles.
No chain on the plug in the bathroom wash basin and the cold water tap was stiff and difficult to turn off, hence dripping tap. No undercupboard stairs in Emminster, so no cleaner. Coasters to place hot drinks on should be provided. Two main concerns: 1. Directions were poor, Harbour Hill not signposted. Suggest the following: "If pass the hexagon house on your right, go over bridge and turn left, sign posted Chickerill" "Wey Meadow stables on your left". 2. Being elderly I need bannisters to go upstairs. The bannisters on the right hand side were restricted half way up when there was no room to hold on between the bannister and the wall. I suggest a bannister on the left hand side also.
