What our customers say about their holidays

    • Andrew - Verified booking

We stayed here for a week in June.

Check-in was contactless with a key safe (we were given the combination a few days before). Access to the park is through the car park for the Mermaid Gin Distillery (The Wishing Well pub). Some lodges have parking adjacent, however not all (including Cava) however this was not an issue as you could park outside to unload and then leave your car in The Vineyard car park by the entrance (no distance at all and in sight from the lodge). The lodge was extremely clean throughout and very comfortable. The kitchen is well equipped with everything needed for a self-catering holiday including dishwasher, washing machine, microwave and full size oven. Unfortunately it only has a small fridge with an icebox freezer (ideally this could have been bigger). A nice touch was the complimentary starter pack of dishwasher tablets, washing tablets, washing up liquid and the welcome pack of milk, small pats of butter, shortbread biscuits, jams and tea and coffee sachets. There is an information folder in the lodge which contains a contact number should you have any issues (we had a minor issue with the hot tub one evening and it was fixed the next day and our text message was responded to within a few minutes). Some people have mentioned about the bright green emergency lights in the bedrooms, which is true, however we found these to helpful to find the way to the bathroom in the middle of night without stubbing toes !!. Also we found that when we closed our eyes to go to sleep, we couldn't see these lights !! There are no facilities at the park which suited us perfectly as we like the peace and quiet. However there is a Tesco Extra a five minute drive away and more importantly the gin distillery a minutes walk up the pathway(!!) which is well worth a visit, not just for the gin, but for their well stocked bar with local beers (Goddards), their good food menu and lovely outside terrace area at the rear overlooking the vineyard and fields. We would not hesitate to return to the vineyard lodges - in fact we want to return sometime in the future. A fantastic holiday.

We had a fantastic stay here at Muscat.

The property was beautiful and felt safe and comfortable. The area was also in a good location and was close to other tourist areas if you have a car (and we saw a bus stop very close by too). Jon and Mel answered any questions we had and kindly provided us with basic necessities such as tea, milk, coffee, sugar and biscuits etc.. thank you. There were certain small things which could have been improved but certainly did not impact our stay. We felt there was definitely a need for a serving spoon or ladle in the kitchen cupboards. There seemed to be everything else other then this. There were also no cleaning facilities despite asking us to leave the lodge clean and tidy upon our departure (we had to go out and buy surface wipes/toilet rolls etc as there were no spares). Also could have done with some washing up liquid (we were left with an empty bottle which had enough for a plate or two). We did find a few dead insects upon arrival also but again, this was an easy fix and easily missed. Overall though, there is everything you could want. An easy to use hot tub, tourist magazines/leaflets, TV’s, two bathrooms, lots of kitchen equipment and guides on how to use oven etc.. and most of all, a beautiful lodge. Thank you both for a wonderful stay. We will definitely recommend/would return in the future.

The property looked really nice when we arrived but we kept finding places that had not been cleaned.

There were cobwebs in most corners of the bathroom and kitchen/ living, area so we had a few spiders about. When I went to take out the colander from the cupboard a massive cobweb came out with it. It was much appreciated to find milk, biscuits, tea & coffee when we arrived but the property had no teapot, which was disappointing for us tea drinkers. The outside tap was dripping all the time we were there and for an eco house we thought it was a waste of electricity to constantly keep the hot tub running. The outside of the property, at the back was dirty and cobwebby, and looked like it had not been cleaned down in a while. When my husband shaved each morning he had no mirror above the sink and had to step aside to the mirror that was there hence dripping water and shaving foam on the floor. The bed was comfy and clean. We were glad that the weather wasn’t too hot because there were no windows in the bedrooms and it would have been very uncomfortable, especially for a woman of a certain age

The kitchen/lounge area of the lodge was clean and generally well fitted out.

The addition of a teapot would be good and also a 2nd oven glove - lifting a hot dish out of the oven with 1 hand is not really safe. However, it is in the bathrooms that my criticism begins. The sink is way too small and it is difficult to get your head over the sink when cleaning your teeth/shaving. When sitting on the loo you can easily see very dirty marks on the front of the shower tray - not acceptable. Sealant in the shower had dirt/mould on it - but even worse was the appalling smells that both shower rooms gave from the drains once you have taken a shower. Not nice when you sleep in the adjoining bedrooms and a possible health risk. Only 1 toilet roll was provided for each bathroom for a weeks stay…. Also a hairdryer being provided would have been better than having to carry my own. Luxury lodge - no . Eco lodge - not sure how that can be with a hot tub outside, although not used by us. Such a shame as there is so much to enjoy about this accommodation…..but not by us again.

      The property was immaculate.

Everything was as described in the details we were sent. Careful consideration had clearly been given to the quality of the accommodation and the maintenance of the site. A simple comments: The address information should include the words: The Vineyard Luxury Holiday Lodges, then Lodge Gardens, as was the accommodation we had. There was no indication of this address from the roadside. There is a sign set back behind the Isle of Wight Distillery (which is clearly marked on the road, very helpful to have this as a marker). It is also at the rear of the pub, The Wishing Well - excellent restaurant and staff - which is another helpful marker. Something else useful would be a coat stand to the side of the entrance door to hang coats etc on as you enter the property. There is also a bus stop right outside the The Vineyard which has an excellent service into Ryde for change of service around the island if you want a day not using your car. Altogether a great stay!
