What our customers say about their holidays

    • Holly - Verified booking

As many others said, the door was an absolute pain to get shut/locked - it clearly needs replacing, and mentioning it in the guest info is simply not good enough.

But the main problem was - Misleading description - no mention of the car park barrier being NEXT to the cabin, or that when anyone drives in or out, which happens quite a lot, the barrier is swung right across the cabin deck steps and entrance so that random strangers holding it open for their companions are standing awkwardly 2 feet away from you, or reminding the driver to get frozen peas on their supermarket trip, etc, while you’re sitting on the deck trying to have a relaxing breakfast. Weekend was especially busy. It was AWFUL. We were hoping for a quiet and private getaway and got zero privacy- people are walking past so close to you, it’s disconcerting. AND “Awake to views of Monmouth Beach” not true - from the cabin we could actually only see the large mobile home in front and their blue Volvo. Not the beach. And finally, “spot of alfresco dining on the front veranda…” not really possible, as the chairs were sun lounger style and no dining table just a small tray sized coffee table. We’ve booked several holidays with Lyme Bay Holidays but this may have been the last.

Overall, our stay was wonderful, and we had an amazing time. It was incredibly relaxing, offering the perfect environment for unwinding. The location itself was fantastic, with plenty of things to do nearby and breathtaking views to enjoy. However, upon arrival, we noticed a few areas that could use some attention. There was dust under the bed, and some of the dishes hadn’t been properly cleaned, as food residue was still visible. Additionally, the bathroom extractor fan was not functioning. One thing to note is that the shower head is positioned quite low, so if you're tall (like me at 6'5"), it might be a bit challenging to shower comfortably. Despite these minor issues, we thoroughly enjoyed our time and would definitely consider staying here again if these issues were taken into mind. The overall experience was still very positive, with the stunning surroundings and peaceful atmosphere making it a memorable trip.

      The property was very cosy.

It was clean and tidy. There was air conditioning which was extremely fortunate as we enjoyed wonderful hot weather whilst there. There were however some problems. a) The broken entry door, it has fallen in the frame and required lifting each time to shut. What made this more annoying was it was mentioned in the customer handbook,so obviously it has been broken for some time. It took us 5-10 minutes to shut most days and was heavy, as an OAP this was annoying. b) The toilet seat was wobbly, thankfully my husband managed to fix it. c) Although the information beforehand tells you that the property doesn't have parking but you're next to a public car park, the cost of parking is £1.90 per hour making a big impact on finances. Thankfully we were allowed to park in a private space. Overall the holiday was lovely, good dog friendly beach, and cafes.

We had a very enjoyable stay at Garland cottage, the on-site manager was very helpful and friendly.

We were pleasantly surprised to find a selection of dog treats left for our Reggie along with food and water bowls, and many other items that we usually have to take with us such as tea towels and washing up liquid. The accommodation was very clean upon arrival and well presented. The only minor negative was that the sofa in the living room is getting a bit tired and uncomfortable to sit on for any length but this could be said of a lot of people's homes. I was pleasantly surprised to receive a phone call the day after arrival checking that everything was ok, unfortunately I missed the call but got the message later and was unable to return the call due to reception issues. I can definitely recommend Garland, and would be happy to stay in the other accommodation available at Wey Stables, and am likely to return in the near future! Thank you.

      I absolutely loved staying here.

I felt very safe and comfortable. I really appreciated the eco products and green cloth (same as I use at home). However, after my long drive I was tired and just couldn’t work out how to operate the hob for a cup of tea! But I experimented the next morning and made it work, so more info on that would have been good. I also had trouble finding the tin opener and hair dryer (I assumed there wasn’t one). The heating was easy to use (once I’d googled the controller), so I was lovely and warm when the weather was rough outside. Just a couple of maintenance issues: the curtain pole I think needs attention and the shower door didn’t seem to close properly. But all in all I had a wonderful time! I got plenty of exercise walking into town and in the evenings was able to relax on the sofa listening to the sea and storms outside.
