What our customers say about their holidays

    • Ben - Verified booking

My wife an I stayed at the property for the last week in October half term 2024.

We chose to book the Friday to Friday because the price difference like everything goes up by alot for half term, the Saturday to Saturday was going to cost alot more. We arrived on Saturday morning, we had no choice but to loose a day already because of work commitments. We were a little disappointed, we had our towels changed because the ones already in the property had old make up stains on them. Every single blind covering windows had damaged shutters on. There was marks all up some of the walls like someone had dragged a suitcase across it. But most of the walls in the property had marks or scratches on them. Make up hand prints on the walls in the bathroom. The floor was a state, all round the edging of the laminate/tiled style flooring in kitchen that went into the bathroom was all chipped and worn away. Inside the draw under the wash basin in the bathroom looked liked it had something burned/spilt into it. The coffee table in the sitting room had horrible black marks all over it, and what looked like chunks of wood chipped out of it. The ceiling light hanging down in the sitting room looked like it was hanging off. Not all lights for the outside porch area were working. The fencing on the decking behind the hot tub had broken slats hanging down. Plant pots with weeds growing in them which just made it all look really run down. However, we didn't allow it to effect our holiday, and we can't fault the staff, we made the ladies on reception aware straight away because the last thing we wanted was to receive an email to pay a house keeping charge after the holiday, and luckily we did as they made us aware that they were ONLY aware of ONE blind being damaged. But the ladies were really lovely and understanding, they took note of everything we had mentioned. The area itself where the lodge is was lovely, very quiet and secluded. But the big question, would we stay there again? And a simple answer would be no :( and it's such a shame because in the pictures it looked amazing. We just feel that for the money that we paid, it just wasn't worth it. If we had paid for the Saturday to Saturday, I think it would of been more upsetting for us because of the extra amount of money wanted for that week.

We booked 2 Stonerush cottages- this is not the cabin that we got.

We were put in number 4 which was completely different to the one we had booked. I was slightly put out by this as it was a lot smaller and didn’t have a separate kitchen area nor the 2 bathrooms that we had booked with number 2. Upon arrival the tv did not work, the hot tub did not work and we had a leak in the ceiling. Also to add to this the hot tub area was not private at all- with dog walkers constantly passing by and staring in at us. We booked number 2 as it was set back and had a big wooden fence around the hot tub. The hot tub was repaired by about 2pm the next afternoon so it meant a whole evening and half of our day Friday we couldn’t make use of it. When we reported the tv and the leak to reception in fairness the maintenance guy was round in 5 minutes however there wasn’t a lot he could do to fix the tv nor the leak so we had to make do. We were hoping to book again with you in the summer but upon looking at the prices- double what we paid for our stay this weekend. I couldn’t justify this price for the level of disappointment of our stay. If I had wanted to stay in 4 Stonerush I would have booked it. The fact we looked at all the available options and purposely booked number 2 for its level of privacy and the large space and then were not given this lodge I think is unacceptable.

Hi, We had a nice stay in the southern halt holiday cabin which was spacious, comfortable, clean and set in beautiful surroundings.

Just a couple of improvements needed to achieve a 5 star feedback: 1. A lack of a handrail on the entrance steps make it difficult for my wife (who currently has mobility issues) to get up without assistance. 2. The lack of an option to charge an electric car. Normally this would not be such an issue if there was a reliable public charger nearby, but the closest ones were in Bodmin around 10miles away and they were either not working or occupied most of the time. Half way through the week I had no choice but to waste a morning on my own (without impaciente kids) just to charge the car in an industrial estate in Bodmin. Most places we visited in Cornwall had a lack of available destination chargers so we could have really done with a top up charge every night, even if it was just from a 3 pin external socket. Ideally there should be a couple of Type 2 chargers at the entrance available to guests to use at a reasonable cost. As the EV’s become more popular this really will be an essential service needed in all holiday destinations.

Rosie's Retreat is a beautiful lodge in the Inny Vale holiday village which was quiet and very well kept, with a stream running behind. Being dog friendly accommodation was particularly important to us and we were delighted that there were welcome packs for us And the dog including blankets and towels, dog bowls and a big packet of treats! Ours included a large caddy of tea bags ( very important!) milk and scones, jam and cream ready for an afternoon cream tea! The table was beautifully laid and there was atmospheric music playing on our arrival! The Lodge is well equipped with dishwasher, washing machine, large fridge freezer, microwave and toaster. There is a lovely wet room downstairs and a bathroom and bath with shower over upstairs. The upstairs bedrooms are beautifully light and airy with velux windows, plenty of storage and all the beds are very clean and comfortable. We had a wonderful holiday - thank you for providing such excellent accommodation!

We had a lovely 7 days at 2 Stonerush Valley in April 23.

Location is quite isolated (18 mins from nearest Morrisons) but what you get is worth it; total peace and relaxation. This particular property is one of the most private on site and not overlooked by others (meaning my dog couldn’t see as much so less barking!). We didn’t leave for the first 3 days! We just enjoyed the property, sounds from the stream below, the birds singing in the trees and use of the hot tub under the starry sky. The whole site is so quiet that there is an abundance of wildlife close by, and with limited outdoor lighting on site it is perfect for star gazing! The onsite pub offers friendly service and good food and there are some incredible beaches within an hours drive on the north coast - we visited Perranporth but there are plenty to choose from, all stunning. We’d definitely recommend this lodge, well equipped, tidy, daily hot tub maintenance service provided. A very comfortable, and relaxing stay. 100% recommend.
