What our customers say about their holidays

This property was lovely and we thoroughly enjoyed our 4 night stay in June which was helped by us experiencing the most glorious hot weather.

The house is beautiful with lovely views across the Yorkshire countryside. The contact with the owner was excellent. She left us a lovely basket of goodies which we enjoyed on our first evening sitting on the terrace. The house is very well equipped with very good quality furniture and furnishings. The kitchen is lovely and has everything you would need if you wanted to cater for yourselves. The bedrooms are lovely, beds very comfortable with lovely cotton sheets etc and nice pillows - all things the can spoil your stay if not done correctly. Bathrooms are beautiful with lovely white fluffy towels. The hot tub was fantastic but we could not use it the first night due to it having to reach the temp following being cleaned. This was fine and we very much enjoyed it on the following nights. I feel loath to mention the few things that could have given this property 10 out of 10 but I think 9 .5 is a great score. Out of the 4 bedrooms only 2 had wardrobes and those wardrobes only had about 5 hangers each. This wasnt too much of a problem as we were 1 extended family together so could move our clothes into the other bedrooms but if you were going with friends this may be an issue - although a minor issue. So take some hangers with you. The internet is excellent and inside the property the service was fast, but no service outside. The main issue was that between our party we can 3 mobile phone service providers and non of them were available in or around the property so if you need to have access to making phone calls you will be disappointed. WhatsApp was still available so we could make some contact with the outside world. As it was this was not too much of a problem because we were 1 extended family so didn't really need to contact anyone. Obviously you are in the very heart of the countryside and for me I was not too worried about this because I am sure you could still have emergency calls. We would definitely go back to this property. We have used Sykes many times, and some properties have not been very good and especially not clean but this was fantastic in every way.

On Friday 22nd of November we all arrived at Cranefield laithe, 4 couples and a two year old.

It was lovely, clean, warm and everything we hoped it would be and more. In spite of having to contend with storm Bert we had the most enjoyable stay. Fabulous facilities, layout and style and it felt like a home from home. The layout was perfect and the on-suite bathrooms were stylishly designed. The bedding and mattresses were also excellent quality. We throughly enjoyed the hot tub despite the freezing temperatures and the log burner was a comforting focal point. The local area is so beautiful and plenty of walks and cosy places to eat . Malham Cove is a must see. The local people were so kind and helpful. This was especially noted when storm Bert meant we couldn’t risk getting back to our (home for the weekend) and a local guy who lives in the very quaint, Bell Busk was on his way home from the Bolton match and helped us to get to a safe point. Where our lovely host Racheal was more than happy to rescue us in her high, large wheeled 4x4 . We managed to get out for a beautiful Sunday roast in the Lister Arms too. So all was well and we continued to have a fabulous time till we left on Monday morning. We will return and we are already recommending to all who will listen.

We all had a great time at Crane Field Laithe.

We have stayed in many properties but by general consent this was the best place we had ever stayed in. The facilities are great; en suite in all bedrooms is brilliant. The barn conversion has been done to a very high standard and the layout of kitchen dining area and sitting room all work well with a family group of six. The hot tub was the star attraction for the youngest member of the family and the snooker table was very popular. Worth mentioning also is how well provided the kitchen is with everything you might need. And not just one mug or plate per person but a good number so that we didn’t run out during the day. Not only is the design of the conversion outstanding but the furniture and fittings are very stylish and comfortable. I must also mention the setting. Amazing views from across the fields and hills and where else are you welcomed by a group of young lambs? A welcome basket of goodies was also really appreciated and the home made brownies were out of this world. Our thanks to Ashley and Rachael for their exceptional hospitality.

I have just had the most wonderful stay at Crane Field Laithe with a group of friends to celebrate my 40th.

The hosts couldn't have been better, clear information packs about the property including it's history which was interesting to know, a thoughtful welcome pack including delicious home baked goods and messages to let us know the property was ready for check in earlier than expected and no rush for us to leave on our departure day. The property itself is stunning yet cosy and comfortable at the same time, the kitchen is well equipped and the sofas and chairs in the lounge are spacious and perfect for lounging on. All the bedrooms are beautiful with the most comfortable beds I've slept in at a holiday let and combined with good quality bedding, made for a great nights sleep. All the rooms are en suite with spacious and beautiful bathrooms and the whole property was spotless. A highlight for us was seeing the colours change on the landscape as the sunset in the evening and watching it rise whilst in the hot tub, the scenery is beautiful. Perfect place for making special memories.

Enjoyed our stay at Lodge 32.

The site it is on was quiet and peaceful and well cared for. If you've read other reviews about the toilet not flushing this is operator error, just jab the large flush button with your thumb and keep it there until the cistern empties. Hot tub was nice, staff arrive every morning to clean and treat it, nice folk. Ask them to tune the tub to your liking. The shop in the village “Border Reiver” was very good and staff helpful, as was the Otterburn Mill Cafe and Shop. Nearest fuel station was Bellingham (Jet) or at Thropton (Shell), so arrive fuelled up unless you are venturing out and about. The Coach House on site was not open during our stay, so arrive expecting to self cater. They have no chef at the moment (but this is not the responsibility of Lodge 32). If you are old folk like us the low furniture and beds are a tad difficult to get out of, not a criticism just a note for older guests.
