Very pleasant bijou accommodation with all the basics provided for a relaxing stay and a hamper tailored to your tastes awaiting you. Nice views of countryside from front aspect and we saw several deer, a hunting hawk, male pheasant, heron, range of garden birds and squirrels in the immediate vicinity of the Loft. Our only reservations are minor points compared to the package offered by the Loft overall but you should be aware that while the main accommodation is manageable for taller guests with as expected with a "loft" restricted height on the shoulders of the open plan living area and bedroom but normal height in the centre of these areas the only bathroom (off the bedroom) has a sloping ceiling over the WC itself which if you are a male of over about 5ft 9ish (I am 6ft 1in which nowadays is pretty common) requires a backward limbo and awkward contortions to use! Additionally the impression on initial arrival at the loft is a little dented by the sight of a ancient and shabby Land Rover parked immediately under the loft and right by the entrance steps (passed every time you come in or out). While the description of the accommodation mentions the lower area is used for storage and a garage the reality is not of an enclosed garage but of a derelict looking vehicle shoved under the open stairway in all too plain sight. Plenty of places to enjoy in the vicinity and within an hours drive and walking distance of the excellent reopened local pub (currently drinks only but food coming in the new year apparently).

Owner was very nice but we had issues with facilities.
The house was freezing cold on our arrival and the heating in rooms is somehow separate from central heating and difficult to work out. Instead of a relaxing start to our holidays we spent first two days trying to warm up the house with a portable heater and keeping the doors downstairs wide open. The bedroom heating was not working at all and the kitchen seems to have no central heating installed. Dining area is in the corridor and it is very cold and dark for meals and playing games. Thankfully we spent most of our holidays outside the house but after being on walks all day it would have been nice to come back to a warm cottage. The cold added unnecessary stress and the heating should have been set and checked well before our arrival. Kitchen is huge and it would have been helpful to have labels on where things are as there are many random things in dusty cupboards without much order. We felt it was a missed opportunity as the lounge is set up really nicely for reading by the fire and the vintage decor is great but it would make more sense to have a dining table there to not shiver during breakfast and dinner. I hope the feedback will help others choose their stay according to their needs better.

Just back from a much needed break at Mariners Rest.
The weather wasnât the best but it didnât matter one bit as we were able to enjoy our beautiful place and surroundings come rain or shine! Lovely spacious and bright accommodation with a view of the sea to wake up to, such a calm, comfortable space to relax in, both inside and out. And thank you to our fabulous host Georgia who was excellent with her communication & kindly on call if we needed anything. But we didnât as everything was perfect ! Super location to explore too - we enjoyed just being able to walk out the door and walk the costal path from Gorran Haven to Port Mellon on a beautiful sunny day with stunning coastal views and we even saw some seals ! And nearby, well worth exploring the fishing villages of Charlestown, Mevagissey and Fowey. We recommend the Polgooth Inn for an amazing breakfast treat especially the âmarmite melt!â, the local Gorran fish and chip shop a short stroll away & the Crown at St Ewe for supper! Canât wait to return to Mariners Rest and the fabulous Cornish coast - missing you already!

A fab property.
We were lucky enough to be staying here, right in the middle of Gorran Haven, over New Year! Although the weather let us down some of the time, we canât fault anything else. Lovely welcome treats for us and the dogs on arrival, everything we needed to feel at home straight away & a great location. Cakebreads just down the road (village shop, cafe, bar & post office all mixed into one!) serves up a cracking breakfast (outside so wrap up warm) which set us on our way for fabulous walks in all directions⦠although the walk to Vault beach is a must on a sunny day, especially if you combine it with a walk to the Barley Sheaf pubâ¦.best Scotch egg ever & amazing steak!!! Mevagissey is also within easy reach, with a nice stop off at the Rising Sun in Portmellon. Great fish & chips in Gorran Haven to head back to al the end of the day too! Everywhere we went was super friendly, to us and the dogs! (Although, this may alter in peak season!) Highly recommend both the property & the location!

Miller's Loft was the absolute perfect location for us private and secluded and a warm welcome from the owner assured us that we were not alone. The welcome feast hamper is now legendary, packed with thoughtful essentials and treats such as artisan bread, home made marmalade free range eggs and wine! The accommodation and its furnishings is inviting, flooded with natural light and has all the coking requirements one might need. The bed is worthy of special mention being exceptionally comfortable. We had read that the bathroom was on the 'compact' side, which is accurate but my husband is 5ft 10in and had no problem. Oh, must mention the balcony, many happy evening were spent here watching the world go by and even a breakfast to two, when spared by the weather. When it was too wet to venture out the space is very pleasant to relax and read in. The location is excellent for exploring the north of Norfolk. We hope to return one day !
