What our customers say about their holidays

    • Jennifer - Verified booking

This cottage is oh so cute.

5 minutes walk from the pebble beach, found a different footpath to the beach everyday. Ideally situated to explore Aberystwyth to New Quay. Was able to park a skoda roomster at the opening to the 'drive' to unload and pack. If you park carefully there is room for other cars to pass. However, it was easier to park up on the main street, barely 2 minutes walk away - absolutely no problem. Very informative welcome folder - perhaps this could be left on table, had to search for it on the bookshelf. The cottage was warm and cosy, kitchen well equipped. Lovely powerful electric shower. Cotton bed linen and towels lovely and fresh. King size bed a bit too firm for us - rectified by putting spare duvets under the sheet. Perhaps a topper? If you have mobility problems then not the place for you - small set of wooden spiral stairs to negotiate - I managed with dodgy knees using handrails provided. Spiral stairs need to be negotiated carefully anyway! If over 5Ft 10 be prepared to stoop through doorway. Upstairs original wooden floors are delightfully wonky - it is over 200 years old after all!! Garden a little unkempt but dogs loved it and I was secure in the fact that they couldn't escape which was more important for me. A few gaps by the back gate which a smaller dog (miniature yorkie, chihuahua size) might escape. Garden delightfully sunny. We had a whole week of welcome sunshine. Kites circle overhead. Village Premier stores provides necessities - 5 minutes walk. Llanchearon National Trust about 15 minute drive is worth a visit for riverside walks and Rocky Road Brownies. All in all super quiet location, quaint, cosy cottage, dog safe garden. The best sunsets on the beach. Easy travelling to visit places (beware 20 mph limit in towns and villages). We enjoyed our stay and would book again if we wanted to explore that coastline again. Thank you.

We spent a week at this wonderful house and are now thinking about when we can go back!

After spending many fabulous holidays in Sykes accommodation and lots of times in Wales, this has been the best we've stayed in (and it was up against some tough competition). The house is simply gorgeous. Very private and secluded but only a short distance from Ruthin which has plenty of shops, restaurants and bars etc so you get peace and quiet but are close enough to all you could need too. The owner couldn't have been nicer and the hamper on arrival was a wonderful welcome touch that far surpasses any we've ever had before. Having the horses for neighbours, a huge hot tub in a wonderful garden, just as well equipped outside as in, was amazing. Inside the rooms are very comfortable, tastefully decorated and well equipped, with a stunning kitchen which would be wonderful in any home. Only thing missing was a phone signal (which we knew about as it's in the listing) but in my opinion actually improves things. Good WiFi so not out of touch but no phone signal was a good excuse to have a bit of a holiday from the phone too. We loved this house, in case that's not already obvious lol, and would definitely recommend.

We found about a dozen 2-3mm glass shards on the living room floor.

This was concerning as they threatened to get embedded in our dog’s paws. The old vacuum cleaner was unusable as it did not suck, probably as it was already full of dust, fibres and debris. The bathroom window on the first floor will not latch properly and a child leaning against it (thinking it was shut tight) could easily fall out of the building and injure themselves severely on the patio outside. This is a most very worrying defect. The bed fastenings are loose. They each need about ten half turns with an Allen key to secure. The stairs are a slip hazard which could be resolved with carpet strips on each step. It is a charming cottage in excellent decorative order. The location is good and the appliances - with the exception of the vacuum cleaner - are easy to use. The living room needed rearranging for comfort and ease of use. The garden lawn needs cutting. Overall we enjoyed our stay but the above defects need attention, above all the bathroom window as the handle does not engage with the latching mechanism and is dangerous.

      Fantastic stay!

We stayed as a group of (mature) friends over the New Year Right from the start the farmhouse owner Richard was most helpful. On arriving we were blown away with the house the quality was of a high standard and spotlessly clean It had everything you could think of and more! It was spacious, as a group it never felt crowded. The large lounge was great for all to gather with a huge sofa ,TV and wood burner The house had been decorated for Christmas which was a nice touch. There was a lovely welcome basket and information pack. We visited the local pub one evening, it’s about a 15/20 min walk. The food was nice and plentiful and the staff were friendly. There’s a little shop attached to the pub where they sell local produce ( bacon was fab). Both run by the community ! There are a few forest walks a short drive away! Which I would highly recommend doing! Ruthin has all the shops you need (4 miles from the house) Would we book again? Absolutely can’t wait! Thank you again Richard & family

We've just returned from a family weekend away and we were so impressed with this beautiful house!

It was so clean and cared for, beautifully presented with a lovely welcome box on arrival with all the need to knows and some treats to get the holiday started! It is sat within amazing grounds, the Horses in the field next to the gardens are extremely friendly and enjoyed an apple of two from the apple tree! Then you have the three sheep who are super cute bounding over to say hello! The owner came over to show us some good walking routes and even let my daughter feed the sheep a little treat, great touch!! The hot tub was nice and warm when we got there which was appreciated! There are two living rooms with fires, they warmed the whole house, it was so cosy! There are board games available in the big lounge, the kitchen comes with all the equipment and space you need and then some! Before we left we were already talking about coming back! A huge thank you for making our stay so comfortable, looking forward to coming back! If you haven't already get this place booked, you will not regret it!
