About this property

23 Beach Road is nestled in the town of Y Felinheli, offering a lovely base for a family or group of friends looking to explore Gwynedd and the surrounding coast and countryside of Wales. A homely kitchen offers a great selection of amenities to cater to your culinary needs, and family mealtimes can be enjoyed at the dining space in the living/dining room. Here there is also a sitting space and TV where guests can relax with a coffee as they plan their holiday itinerary. Freshen up in the bathroom or separate shower room before cosying up in one of the two well-presented bedrooms, choosing between a double and a king. Y Felinheli offers a selection of amenities and attractions, including local bars and eateries such as Garddfon Inn and Tafarn Y Fic, as well as a convenience store where guests can stock up on essentials. The town rests beside the Menai Strait and offers a local sailing club and coastal walks, and further from the property guests will find watersports activities at Plas Menai National Outdoor Centre. Further from the property, enjoy a trip to the beautiful Anglesey, where there are many stunning beaches, walks through Anglesey Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, a sea zoo, watersports options and historic sites such as Beaumaris Castle. Caernarfon offers another incredible castle, as well as more amenities and attractions. Beyond this, discover the incredible Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park, where there are a wealth of fantastic walks, including Carnedd Llewelyn and Glyder Fawr, plus many hikes, mountain bike trails, wild swimming opportunities and adrenaline-filled activities with Zip World. All of this and so much more with a stay at 23 Beach Road.

Y Felinheli, formerly know as Port Dinorwic, is situated on the beautiful Menai Strait between the historic town of Caernarfon and the cathedral city of Bangor. Home to a small, established yachting marina with an interesting lock (allowing boats to enter or leave before cruising down the Straits to the open sea), this small village also has a couple of pubs, a restaurant and cafe in the dock area, a shop and Post Office, a beautician, a hairdresser and several great restaurants on the nearby Island of Anglesey. Visitors to this lovely region are spoilt for choice, with stunning Snowdonia, the beautiful Llyn Peninsula, or the sandy beaches of the Isle of Anglesey all within easy reach.

    They would stay here again.

Larger than expected, well presented with a good kitchen and appliances, and plenty of pans, crockery and cutlery. Small front garden but safe for our small dog. The large bed in the second bedroom limited the space available for bedside cabinets, but the main bedroom with an even larger and comfortable bed was roomy. Our problem was no coat hooks in the hallway, so we had no option but to leave our outdoor clothing on the hall floor, which is not desirable in wet and cold weather. Also the new tin opener doesn't work - also mentioned by a previous guest. Otherwise, a very good cottage in an ideal location with lovely views across to Anglesey.

We particularly liked the roomy, well-equipped kitchen. Outside it is only a few seconds walk to the edge of the Menai Strait and we enjoyed watching the water, the bird life, the sunsets and the morning mist. Nearby is a general store and pub. There were a couple of issues in the kitchen: the cold tap hardly ran and a window wouldn't close fully. More significant perhaps was the lock box which is only a few inches off the ground. We had to kneel to use it which is not ideal when it is night-time and raining! Despite these issues, which will hopefully be resolved, we recommend this cottage and its lovely location and would be happy to stay there again.
