"Firstly the positives- nice location, picturesque village, close to pub, local walks and shops nearby, nice historical building.Negatives- not really suitable for a winter break, really cold, had to keep very noisy boiler on 24/7, did buy wood for the woodburner and had a fire in every night but heat seems to escape out rather than in, lots of condensation with windows being very wet, couldn't open the windows, damp smell, used own towels, not able to park in front of the cottage as its first come first served so had to park in various locations around the village, no garden for our little dog to explore (front door goes straight out onto the not so busy main village road but at times cars do speed around the corner) and no means of communication (no telephone signal, wifi or telephone), it's actually nice not having some form of communication but felt vulnerable should we need to make contact in the event of an emergency. We chose the cottage for its location to Plymouth as I had work there and for this it was perfect and I know my review sounds negative and I believe the cottage would really suit a couple in the summer and I can imagine the village to be a lovely and sociable place at that time, so all in all we had a nice weekend but we have stayed at better places for an equal price."

"A lovely part of the world: we enjoyed some great walks in Dartmoor, visited Buckland Abbey which is literally right outside the village of Milton Combe, and had a day at the coast at Wembury which is just 40 minutes' drive away. The village itself is very peaceful and set in a deep valley so you really feel like you've got away from it all. The local pub ('Who'd Have Thought It') served stunning food - we went there three nights in a row. Because the village is so small, there isn't a shop in it, but you don't have to drive very far to find one. The cottage was nice and cosy, especially once we had lit the wood fire. Both bedrooms and the bathroom were fine. We didn't cook at all so can't really say much about the kitchen, though the toaster could do with being replaced. Dishwasher and washing machine both worked OK. In a perfect world there would be a garden out the back that the dog could be let into, but that is impossible given the location - the slope behind the row of cottages is almost vertical. Not a major issue, though, as it is easy to walk the dog around the village and there is almost no traffic to worry about."

"This cottage is a good base for exploring Devon and Cornwall. It is situated on a working dairy farm, but was very quiet. There was a cream tea on arrival, and a few essentials in the fridge which was handy. Despite it being listed as an available service please note that no internet wifi shared with this cottage. 3G/4G reception in this area is extremely unreliable (non-existent), so wifi is essential. This is a major downside to this cottage for families who like to plan and book activities whilst on holiday. The decor in the cottage is pleasant, but could do with a good clean and dust - cobwebs everywhere!!!There is a large grassy area at the back of the cottage which is a nice space for children to run around, and some lovely friendly animals on the farm which always give a warm welcome."

"I think the location is fantastic especially if you have children - as there were so many varieties of animals and you were allowed to feed them. However the welcome book made me feel uncomfortable - we were staying in her home (no, sorry, her business). Please take your shoes off and do not wear on the carpet in the bedroom. Strip the beds when you leave. I am sure that we would not have had washing up liquid if someone had not left some behind. There was no soap in the bathroom - I would have expected that at the least. Also no dishcloth!! I knew to take towels but there are certain other bare essentials all the other cottages we have stayed in have supplied. She was extremely friendly and welcoming in person but her handbook was not."

"We arrived a little late, having spent a bit too much time in Exeter, so our super cream tea was not enjoyed until the following day. This lovely gesture was typical of the welcoming attitude of Sally and Christopher. Truly nothing was too much trouble, even when we managed to muck up the TV stations! Our Labrador enjoyed running in the large enclosed field and swimming in a river not too far away. Nearby Tavistock is well worth a visit with everything from Supermarkets to a market complete with small individual shops. Our holiday flew past, we would certainly recommend this cosy excellently equipped cottage and hope to return."
