What our customers say about their holidays

This property is even better than it looks in the photos.

It is positioned in an idyllic spot with marvellous views. It is so peaceful and quiet. The Cottage has been lovingly restored by the owner Jan and has the feel of a home, not a holiday Cottage. The living room is very cosy and the tv set up is perfect. We even used the log burner in June which was excellent. The Aga is easy to use and the separate dining room (with the dogs' settee :-)) is ideal for family meals. The Kitchen has everything you need and the downstairs wet room is well set up for elderly and disabled guests. The shower is amazing. There is also a washing machine and tumble drier in there. The porch is perfect to store dog leads, food, toys and muddy boots. Upstairs are 2 lovely, spacious bedrooms with a Jack and Jill bathroom. Our bed was very comfy. Outside, we had a look at the Pod which has 2 single beds, which could be a double, a toilet and tv. This would be perfect for an older teen (or 2) or an elderly relative with mobility issues. The wrap around garden has been designed so well and there are several areas you can sit and take in the amazing views, The main garden is extremely pretty with some lovely flowers and plants. It is totally secure and, at night there is an outside light and handily placed security lights to help you keep an eye on the dogs. The 3/4 acre paddock is also totally safe and a lovely area for the dogs to stretch their legs. Jan and Nick (and their gardener, Darren) were all so helpful but did not come round unannounced. They would always text if they wanted to cut the grass, do some planting etc. We had a lovely stay and had the chance to explore the local towns, sights and pubs. It's a wonderful area and we were struck by how much of the countryside remains unspoilt and the lack of houses. Obviously, we would thoroughly recommend Quarry House as an amazing holiday let.

This cottage was the best one by far that we’ve stayed in and the home made scones with jam and fresh cream were truley amazing!

The Cottage had everything for your use, a proper home from home. We just loved it, so quiet and peaceful and the open fire every evening was the icing on the cake for us! Our dog Beau was in doggy heaven in the totally enclosed garden and then the was the extra paddock for her to run around in too! We did have snow and couldn’t get out in the car for a couple of days but it didn’t matter, we put on our waterproofs and wellingtons and walked down into Oakamoor and walked on the old railway line to the Ramblers Retreat. Very dog friendly place, we’ll worth a visit and the lemon meringue pie was beautiful! Once the snow had gone we ventured out and about, there’s some very pretty villages and towns close by well worth visiting, Buxton, Bakewell, Hartington and Ashbourne but the best thing is the amazing scenery, truley amazing! Thanks you for a lovely holiday and wouldn’t hesitate to come back again but maybe in the summertime to make use of the fabulous garden.

Enjoyed a fortnight at this cottage.

Weather wasn't brilliant, but still went out walking most days, with walks into the woods right from doorstep! The garden is perfect for dogs - free to explore without worrying about them getting out. Just five minutes drive from cottage is Dimmingsdale and the Ramblers Retreat - what a diamond of a place! Spent three hours walking in beautiful, scenic countryside and then ended with cream tea at this delightful Cafe - can't recommend this place highly enough! Would definitely return to this cottage as its a warm, snug, comfy place to unwind and chill out - the peace and quiet is just what the Dr ordered! Jan the owner is lovely and had baked an exquisite chocolate cake on our arrival. Highly recommend! Perfect for recharging your batteries!

The cottage is very clean throughout and has everything required in terms of equipment bedding kitchen and dining.

The garden and enclosed paddock are great for dogs. Communication with the owner was excellent and a bonus cake made for us on arrival. Cosy place to relax from a busy life for sure. The one thing I’d mention is that the online listing does not at all mention that dogs are not allowed upstairs at the property, I have double checked this. On arrival we found upstairs gated off and no dogs allowed. Obviously dogs are not allowed on the beds as this is unfair for everyone. We have a rescue dog that sleeps on a bed within the bedroom he was exceptionally distressed at being separated so I had to sleep downstairs. Maybe allowing dogs upstairs but clearly not on the beds might be the way forward.

We arrived to a lovely welcome 'tea' from Jan, of cakes and cream scones - very nice!

The cottage was in a lovely setting - extremely peaceful with beautiful views but close to the little town of Oakamoor for provisions. There were so many walks from the door. We found a new footpath and route every day which our dogs also enjoyed. They also liked the little attached paddock to sniff in of a morning and evening. The cottage itself was lovely. We had to have the fire on on our first day - in August! It was lovely as it was actually cold outside! We enjoyed learning how to use the Arga. The jack and jill bathroom was lovely with toiletries included. There were lots of little details in the cottage which made it definitely home from home.
