"We stayed here as a family of four, for a week in October and it was fantastic. I don't feel that the photos actually do the cottage, its facilities and surroundings full justice. The cottage itself is extremely cosy and warm (I didn't know what to expect from under floor heating but it was really warm) and had everything we needed in the kitchen with bed linen, towels and cosy blankets provided. There is a bath and a separate shower upstairs plus an additional toilet down stairs. Sky TV was a great bonus. There isn't a washing machine so families need to bear this in mind but there is a drying rack which we used for our swimming cosies. The entrance hall is nice and big with good storage for coats and shoes etc. The facilities were perfect, our boys made full use of the full sized table tennis table and pool table and the pool just next door, which we had all to ourselves (the shepherds hut which is also on the site was not booked out but this only sleeps two and is sheltered behind a hedge away from the cottage which keeps it private). It felt like such a treat and was so relaxing. It was easy to get to and find but feels remote when you are there and the living room doors open straight onto a wonderful view of fields and woodlands and there is very little light pollution so it was great to see the stars at night. The only interruptions were from the pheasants wandering past the windows in the morning. It is only about 5 miles to Uttoxeter which has Waitrose and Tesco (we got a Tesco delivery on the first night which saved a lot of hassle) and its well located for a lot of activities, we went to Jodrell Bank, Twycross Zoo and Splash World at Alton Towers, but there is also Sudbury Hall (National Trust), Monkey Forest, and Adventure Farm and Brewery tours at Burton on Trent, all close by. The cottage owners were really friendly and welcoming and have created a lovely holiday retreat."

"This is probably my 5th annual visit. My family love it, all three generations and a dog! The cottage is fab. Loads of space, well equipt and the pool is great. If asked to find criticism, I would say that the beds could be more comfortable (more solid) and it would benefit from a more thorough clean. However it’s not a massive moan. Location is great. Its surrounded by miles of farm land and woodlands. There’s loads to do within a short drive. For kids I recommend National Forest adventure farm and Thomas Land. For adults, Barton marina has a lovely deli, a few restaurants and a couple of boutique shops. Little India restaurant has some very yummy food. We will be back next year."

"Had a great time only wanted to have a chill out weekend and that's what we did we only had a short walk which was around 4miles, spent most of the holiday chilling in the pool and relaxing on the terrace. We normally travel with all our older children with their families so this would not normally be big enough for us but it was fine for this short break as we only took our daughter and her partner and her new 6week old baby, so this was perfect for what we wanted. We normally when travelling in England, Wales, Scotland we like to take our dog but unfortunately was unable to take her on this holiday."

"Property is in a great location, but now looks a bit tired, rusty shelves in bathrooms, kitchen doors not fitting, hob starting to melt, no hood over hob, some kitchen pots & pans not usable.Only door to back has to be closed by someone standing outside to push door closed, while someone inside closes bolt, then the person outside has walk around to front door to get back in! Outside furniture & BBQ let the property down, however biggest let down was the 1990's non HD TV.No garden that can be accessed, a very small paved area to let dog out, & no walks on farm for guests.Pool area was great though."

"I am taking part in a novice triathlon in July so chose this particular cottage as there was a swimming pool which enabled me practice swimming daily. The owners, the swimming pool, the cottage , the surroundings were all wonderful and definitely exceeded our expectations . We were able to hire bikes locally and cycle along the Tissington Trail and there are so many amazing walks in the area. I am writing a blog of my training and have used the photograph of the cottage and pool in the last article. jennystri70.wordpress.com"
