"On arrival we were surprised that previous reviews had described the cottage as spacious. As a group of 5, we found that the awkward size / shape / layout of the seating area made it difficult to all watch TV together in the evening. Whilst it's nice to have an extra sofa away from the TV for those wanting to read, the seating near the TV only had 2x two-seater sofas and 2x dentist waiting room- The seating area is also the through-route between the kitchen, bathroom, pool room and staircase, so it felt a bit like a corridor at times. I think the cottage would be most suited to a group that wants to spend evening sitting around the large kitchen table, or perhaps two couples who want to go out early hill walking and spend evenings in the pub. Positives: clean; plenty of hot water and the shower was good; corner room bed was comfortable; pool table was great; the north-east facing garden has views over countryside; the wifi was fine; there are a 2/3 really good National Trust properties in the wider area but driving there takes quite a while. There's a steam railway close by. Negatives: the property is right next the A52 so there is 50mph traffic noise from 6am; bathroom radiator is too small for the room which is cold; condensation problems causing puddles in the bathroom and kitchen; bathroom and kitchen floors are freezing, bring your slippers; cooking was challenging at times due to poor quality pans, but the oven was good. Overall, we thought the property was quite expensive for what we got, compared to others we have stayed in, especially as it isn't in the most popular location."

"Overall the cottage was just about okay. There were simple things that let it down.Positive-The cottage was in a good location for walking the manifold way up to Wetton hill and Thors cave. It was on the main road though and very noisy. It had character and the wood burner was good for warming the house up.The kitchen area was small but had good equipment. You would struggle to fit 4 people around table.Negative- overall cleanliness was really bad and comment book had many comments about this. The cushions on the sofa had lots of stains on them.Bedding was clean though.Main bed was uncomfortable and springs and electric blanket could be felt.Small tv which scratched our DVD and then wouldn't play others. The towels were too small.I wouldn't stay there again I'm afraid."

"Everything was well thought out, we walked in to instant holiday mode. The cottage was set in a lovely wooded area great for the children to explore and use their imaginations. Inside the very impressive cottage was a well equipped kitchen, plenty of lovely weight towels and, a real bonus for a party of 10 including 5 children, was a washing machine and dryer. The living room was well equipped with entertainment and a lovely wood burner, and there was a huge dining table for all the party to dine at. Best of all was the hot tub! It was well used all week and well maintained every morning by an on site manager, who was also very helpful with any queries."

"We arrived at the property and were overwhelmed with the size and cleanliness that this charming house offered. The property was large enough for 7 adults and one dog, the lounge was spacious and we quickly had the wood fire roaring away. The bedrooms were good size and the two bathrooms had a massive bathtub each which were lovely to relax in after a hard days walking and taking in the lovely scenery. We enjoyed exploring the limestone ridges and rolling hills that were right on our doorstep. The property had enough space for three cars to park and had a large barbeque which we used during a dry spell. Would highly recommend for families and couples."

"A lovely cottage in a picturesque location where you can undertake a hike right from the doorstep. A couple of pubs nearby but no grocery shops so best to stock up before you get there. The cottage is right on a road so there is some traffic noise but it's not overly busy. No phone signal (not unusual in the area in general!) and no wifi in the cottage (although there is wifi in the local pub) so send any last-minute communications beforehand :-). There's a nice outdoor area and BBQ, and a parking spot around the back of the property. A lovely place to stay for a few days and would stay again."
