Choose from thousands of South East holiday cottages for your perfect holiday

The South East is a great place to visit to experience some of the best the UK has to offer.

Enjoy the buzzing seaside town of Brighton, complete with the Brighton Pier and iconic pebble beach. Why not visit England's capital city, London for some of the best food, stage shows, and museums in the UK? Or, if you want a quiet getaway, check out the tranquillity of Sevenoaks Deer Park or go cycling through the New Forest.

At Snaptrip, we have scoured this varied part of the UK to find the best South East self-catering properties. You can stay in a cosy cottage nestled in the Kent countryside, a rustic farmhouse in Berkshire, a beautiful old manor house in Oxfordshire, or even a lighthouse on the Isle of Wight.

Whatever requirements you might have for your dream holiday home, at Snaptrip, we'll help you find it.

Why choose the South East for your next getaway?

There is so much to discover in the South East. From miles of varied landscapes, picturesque countryside, historic towns, majestic stately homes and estates, stunning gardens, exciting cities, legendary landmarks, and even incredible theme parks.

The South East comprises several counties including Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Berkshire, Hampshire, Surrey, West Sussex, East Sussex, Kent, and the Isle of Wight. With the White Cliffs of Dover, Jane Austen Country, the Garden of England, and so much more, your only challenge is where to base yourself during your South East weekend break or staycation.

If a city break is what you're craving, then you can't do better than the capital. London is home to the West End, countless theatres, exciting markets, the vibrant East End, stunning royal parks, and plenty of amazing attractions such as The London Dungeons, The London Eye, the Tate Modern, Buckingham Palace, and so much more.

Are you craving a break from city life? Base yourself in the beautiful Isle of Wight and visit storybook villages, dangle above the Needles in a chairlift, gaze at the multi-coloured cliffs of Alum Bay, and kayak to hidden caves in Freshwater Bay. Or why not stay in historic Oxfordshire in the Cotswolds? Marvel at the striking university, wander down pretty streets, go for a punt, and relax by the river.

For a classic seaside holiday, you can't beat Brighton and Hove. The Lanes are picture-perfect and bustling with exciting shops, independent boutiques, charming cafes, and intriguing antique shops. Head to the famous Pier and challenge friends and family to a game or two at the arcades, or hold on tight as you go on the rides. Don't forget to grab some fish and chips or a drink on the promenade and park yourself on the beach to watch the waves.

To fully immerse yourself in some of the UK's best natural landscapes, base yourself in the National Parks of the New Forest or the South Downs. Watch wild horses as they gallop across the plains or find wild pigs and deer grazing.

Hampshire is a lovely county in the South East. With rural scenery, historic dockyards, and countless abbeys and castles dotted across the landscape, you'll never be short of things to do. The land of Downton Abbey is packed with idyllic countryside, a dramatic coastline, bracing walks, and thriving cities and towns. If you're travelling with little ones, don't forget to visit Paultons Park, the home of Peppa Pig World.

Kent is filled with historic castles, from the beautiful Leeds Castle and dramatic Rochester Castle to pretty Hever Castle, the childhood home of Anne Boleyn and where Henry VIII spent his honeymoon. Kent is also home to more Blue Flag beaches than anywhere else in the UK. Relax in the white sands of Botany Bay, try your hand at watersports at Joss Bay in Broadstairs, or go on a fossil hunt in Folkestone.

We've only brushed the surface of what to do and where to stay in the South East. To discover it for yourself, book a South East holiday cottage today!

What our customers say about their holidays

    • Nina - Verified booking

What a wonderful stay we had at The Old Dairy.

The house is beautiful and contains everything you could need for a week away from home. We stayed over New Years and were delighted to find it all decorated for Christmas, tree and all!! What a fabulous surprise. The downstairs living area was so spacious and inviting, the kids had plenty of room to play and a separate snug meant when our family visited we could have a relaxed conversation in comfort. The kitchen had everything we needed and was very clean. The extra fridge was an added bonus and much appreciated. The beds were all very comfortable and the rooms large. The bathrooms were modern and the shower ginormous and inviting. You could tell that a lot of time, effort and love has gone into making this holiday house feel like a home. All appliances, linen and furnishings were all high end and great quality. A lot of thought has gone into all the added little touches. The owner Kate was such a lovely lady and all too happy to help when we needed a little assistance, otherwise she left us on our own to enjoy our break. Plenty of parking, we had 3 cars, and surrounded by beautiful countryside and walks in all directions. We would recommend this house to everyone, we had a fantastic stay.

Superb property in a quiet and beautiful rural setting.

Such a high specification inside, especially the kitchen area and bathrooms, showers. All the bedrooms are spacious and the beds are very comfortable. Absolutely delighted with the accommodation, have never stayed in such a clean and well furnished holiday place.Felt safe and able to enjoy the surroundings in peace. All the family did their morning runs through the woods opposite , it really suited all 5 of us ( could sleep 6) and we had space within the barn to relax . Lovely coast to explore, we didn't know the county at all, picked it as a base for ourselves and visitors from London, trains nearby from Canterbury. Altogether an exceptional holiday with everything at hand, we all shared the cooking and ate outside in the private garden when possible, which is sunny all day . Definitely has the wow factor, doubt we will encounter such a wonderful place again , will need some finding, thank you .

      We had a wonderful stay.

The place was so well presented and clean with a lovely welcome note from the owner. It was so well stocked with everything you might need which often isnt the case at so many cottages. The only things I would say is that the garden felt like a little bit of wasted space and we did not realise that the ceilings in the bedrooms would be so slanted and low. Luckily we were only two fairly short couples so we did not use the lowest ceiling bedroom but we did have a few head bangs along the way. The downstairs though was ideal, the open plan setting was perfect with comfy sofas and a decent sized tv. Perfect for making social dinners and just having that feeling of everyone being around but having enough space to not feel on top of each other.

Lovely little cottage. Excellent kitchen equipment. Bathroom very modern. Lounge very nice decor, complete with wood fire. Central heating throughout. Bedroom sporting a five ft bed, chest of drawers and a rack storage unit. Ample for what we needed. Lovely sheltered patio, table and chairs. A bbq for the use of. A table and chairs in the kitchen. Over all very good layout. It is a working farm, with single track lanes on approach and surrounding areas. There is a folder with equipment information, local emergency info. Dog walking guides. Tv, radio, dvd player plus a few dvds, some books. There is car parking for one( two at a push). Owner lives opposite, any problems can call straight away. I was able to store my top box in a secure shed

    • Mr Miles - Verified booking

Lorraine and Richard were very welcoming and helpful, Rose Cottage is a fantastic place to stay for a couple with or without their dogs, for a short break or a longer stay, the cottage is a credit to L & R, everything has been thought of and no corners have been cut, all mod cons, and was ultra clean and tidy, private off road parking right outside of Rose Cottage, private secluded small garden with a 6’ fence, so safe for dogs, and countryside walks right from the doorstep where you can let your dogs off the lead. Plenty of Kent history to visit and not a million miles from all the seaside attractions. In a nutshell, and in my opinion, Rose Cottage has it all, I would stay at Rose Cottage again in a heart beat. Steve.
