What our customers say about their holidays

    • Craig - Verified booking

Had a nice stay at number 10,weather was fantastic and the lodge's location made getting about nice and easy.

Booking process and communication was spot on. Lodge overall was good but wasn't without issues,a dripping tap in the kitchen was annoying and the smell from the drains in the bathroom was terrible,I'm sure somebody is already aware as a can of tesco air freshener had been left in there to try to mask it.The outside area of the lodge needs some tlc, stained wooden flooring and covered in spiders cobwebs and although comfortable the table and chairs needed cleaning before use and have probably reached the end of their lifespan as they are very badly rusted . I don't want to be to critical because feedback is not always read the way its been written , we had a nice stay but these things need addressing. One final thing please ask people who stay to sign out of their netflix accounts, when we went onto netflix we were met with an offensive user name, obviously humourous to one person but not to all and I found it very embarrassing to see it sat there with my 71 Yr old mum. I'm not going to post it but can be supplied to owner if requested.

It's a beautiful wee place, great location.

Very comfortable beds, lovely high quality bedding and towels. The whole place was lovely and clean to a high standard. The keysafe is a bit of an issue, the rubber cover comes off completely and I was covered in black marks all over my top, the keysafe itself comes out completely and isn't on hinges, I found it difficult to use. The bathrooms have no extractor fans so we had to open the windows for ventilation. A lovely neighbour explained that we could use the parking spot at the side of the drive which was really helpful as we had come in 2 cars. When I saw the sign that said parking for number 42, I assumed that meant on the drive. Amanda left us milk, tea, coffee biscuits and some Rollo's, this was a lovely gesture and was appreciated. We loved the torch in the hallway as we definitely needed it to take Ziggy for a walk down the field at night. We would definitely return.

The lodge was lovely and comfortable.

The outdoor furniture however is rusty and could with replacing also the posts on the patio area need cleaning and the decking could do with a paint. The steps up to the lodge are dangerous 3 front slats kept falling off and had to be pushed back on. There is a main road behind the lodge which is very noisy. There is nowhere within walking distance to eat and the lakeside restraunt is closed on Monday and Tuesday ....its peak season! We went at 6.15pm on the Wednesday to be told they are not taking any more orders ...they really need to be able to cater for the amount of people staying its August so get more staff? We found some nice walks but there is nothing much around the actual site. It may be an idea to provide a welcome pack luckily I took my own washing up liquid as none in the lodge. All in all the lodge was comfortable but could do with some TLC.

We book South lakes twice a year, this site is owned by South Lakes but not actually on the main site which we found really disappointing, it's across a busy road and looks like a basic caravan site.

The main site is great with onsite pub, pool etc - this sadly does not compete. It states in the listing positioned on South Lakeland Leisure Village, but be aware not on the main site (I did not even know there was a separate site and we have been visiting for several years). When you do walk across there is no pavement as you walk down to the pub/facilities so be aware. Static caravan it's self is nice but basic, beds are really uncomfortable and very small, we came home early as my partner could not stand it anymore. I know it's self catering but no small welcome pack, no washing up liquid etc - small things which mean you don't need to go out right away. Also the baking trays and frying pans are full of burnt on grease, I went and bought a new one and brought home as did not want to use them. Sadly this one is not for us.

Roll’s Retreat is a lovely comfortable home we enjoyed our stay (2 couples and dog).

The enclosed garden is very safe for dogs even our greyhound I doubt could jump the fence panels. Grange Over Sands is a charming quiet old worldly type of place with plenty of green spaces to walk dogs and there is a field at the back of the property too. The promenade is also a lovely walk. The property’s kitchen was well equipped so we ate in most evenings also making use of the BBQ. Beds were very comfortable, bedding and towels were of lovely quality. Nothing not to like about taking a holiday here. We drove to Lake Windermere (30-40mins) and Grizedale Forest (40mins) so lots to see and do with good walks from the property too. It was lovely to have milk, treats for us and the dog, soap, cleaning materials and loo roll already at the property. We would not hesitate to go back to this lovely home from home.
