"This cottage has an extraordinarily remote location, accessed from any direction by over 4 miles of (very) single track roads. This is both the best and worst aspect of Bequila as a holiday base. The good part is that you feel as though you are in another world... an intensely rural setting of dark skies and the sounds of nature.. with a wonderful view from the lounge across rolling countryside dominated by the Clee hills. The Lawley, Cardoc and the Bowdlers are on the doorstep. The bad part is that every trip out by car begins and ends with 15-20 minutes of mildly stressful progress along those single track roads with passing places sometimes few and far between, never sure when you will meet another car or tractor. My phone's fitness app credited me with several daily "bike rides" - I at no point used a bike, but the phone assumed that as I was driving so slowly that I must be on a bike! But the roads and the other-worldly getaway are flip sides of the same coin. We loved it. The cottage itself was clean, comfortable and characterful. Even though it only accommodates four (1 double, 2 singles), it boasts a dining room in the style of a mini-baronial great hall which could easily accommodate a dinner party for 12!The only substantive negative for me personally (with a very bad back) was that the beds were a tad soft. Did not bother my companions, but resulted in me sleeping on the floor. There was space to do this in even the smallest bedrooms. The hot water supply is a tad tenuous: but all this means is that while you can have a good shower, run a bath and operate the dishwasher, you can only do one at a time. Again, this probably reflects the lovely off-grid nature of the location. Absolutely no problems with power, heat or internet. Recommended."

"One of the main reasons we booked this cottage was because of the "secure garden" for our dog, unfortunately within minutes of arriving our dog had easily escaped from the garden and was on the road that is directly outside the grounds, the allocated courtyard garden is not secure for dogs and it needs some work to make it so. The seats in the garden are low standard plastic chairs, of which two of the four were broken, as was the table. The cottage itself is very nice and has a bright and airy feel to it, everything you need for self catering is provided, however I do not think it is practical for more than two adults. The only seating in the living area is two sofa beds, these are very uncomfortable and they are not suitable for frequent use. Other reviewers have commented on the cattle grid outside the property disturbing their sleep and I have to agree with them, it is directly outside the bedroom window just above your head as you lay in bed and vehicles start rattling across it from around 5:30 a.m. The nice touches that we have become used to when we book a cottage holiday were missing, there was no welcome pack in fact there was no welcome, as the owners were busy getting ready to go away for the weekend, we were made to feel like bit parts.I'm sorry but I would not recommend this property."

"Stayed as a family with elderly parents and a well behaved dog. The place was very reasonably priced and some of the décor reflected the price. That saying, we had a great time, the place was comfortable and warm and cosy. The kitchen was quite well equipped , although they could do with a few baking sheets for the oven, The stairs were quite difficult for my old mum, who's not as agile as she used to be. The stair carpet is threadbare - it reminded me very much of a gite. Please be aware that dogs are only allowed downstairs. The bathrooms had good showers. The bedrooms are big with lovely views. The area is great for walks. Ludlow and Knighton are near- Knighton had a chipshop and takeaways. We visited the Sitwell Arms- dogs are allowed. We had the tasty carvery on the Sunday.(we booked after visiting on the Friday and advised it gets booked up ) The 2 pubs and the tiny village shop are all a very short walk away. There are lots of games and books available- the tv hasn't all the freeview channels but it worked fine. The docking station worked fine too- didn't try the upstairs tvs .All in all we had a lovely time."

"We loved the accommodation however there were several issues during our stay including a hob that didn’t fully work and want reported in the first day yet way never fixed or even commented on again, also when we did use it it tripped the electrics. Also the WiFi was continuesly dropping out and the hot tub controls were locked and took a day to unlock. Furthermore we were charged £25 for the use of the bbq which they advertise as providing with no mention of a charge. This said the accommodation was very nice and well presented although the kitchen was not well equipmented with utensils. We also found the owners very unwelcoming which was a shame as we were pleased with the house it was a shame that they small things ruined the stay."

"We stayed at the Generals Quarters as a group of friends. This place is amazing. It was a privilege to stay in such an old building that had been so thoughtfully restored. The restoration is still ongoing in the grounds but its easy to see how beautiful these will be with time. The house itself is a few miles from shops and pubs but if you come prepared there is no real reason to leave! You might want to bring a board game or two though. The house itself had more than enough space for 14 adults. The kitchen was well equipped for preparing meals for everyone and all the bedrooms were large and had their own individuality. We would definitely return here, what a great experience."
