What our customers say about their holidays

Myself my wife, stepson and our family dog pip stayed at bowler yard cottage monday to friday.

we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and couldn’t wish for better comfort. The owners live near by and told us that anything we needed just ask,but we had everything we could possibly need in the property and they never intruded and left us to enjoy our break. There was a complimentary bowl of assorted fruit on arival and a beautiful vase of fresh flowers. We had a few days out with local attractions which is close by. Its in a quiet area which is very relaxing but there are shops bars and restaurants not too far away. We had the best 4 nights sleep we have had in avery long time as the beds were so comfortable. There are always good walks for people with their dogs. We will certainly be returning again in the future and have recomended it to our friends and family. Kind regards Mr & mrs jason fairfield

A wonderful old mill house, with 4 large bedrooms (2 ensuite).

Warm and comfortable, lots of parking. The host was amazing and left lots of goodies and was very helpful and friendly. This property was perfect for us, working in the area for the week, and good value for money. Directions could be a bit better. Hard to find in the dark, and the small sign to the property not visible from the main road. Google took us past the layby turning. I chose the smaller upstairs bedroom because it had a bedside table and lamp. This would be nice in all bedrooms. Kitchen could be better supplied: no washing up liquid, no spare bin bags (although the host provided these when asked), only one dishwasher pod, no kitchen roll and let down by very poor frying pans, with burnt bottoms. These need replacing really. Wifi was good, and house was wonderfully warm. The hot water was always plentiful, I think we only needed the boost once. Thank you for a great stay

As a family of four Australians, we loved this cottage stay on the vineyard!

It was a home away from home, and being greeted with fresh fruit, flowers, coffee and biscuits was a superb touch. We didn’t need anything; all of the basics were provided including dishwasher tablets, washing machine detergent, hand soap, all of the little thoughtful things that you need when you are away from home. The house was warm and cosy in the middle of winter and the kitchen was a dream to cook in; and it was very private. Even including lovely tea pots! And the bed and linen were incredibly comfortable and lovely quality after having stayed in other short stays as part of our UK trip where the sheets were awful and cheap! Very happy with our stay, wouldn’t change it for the world! Looking forward to our next visit! Thanks Bowler Yard for making part of our Christmas holiday stay wonderful and warm!

When we first stayed a few years ago we had a lovely holiday.

The last time we stayed, we felt the beds were a very hard and uncomfortable. The seating was also very uncomfortable. The neighbours have changed and are very noisy. Loud voices in the adjoining property kitchen at 7am most mornings, which meant that the kids were awoken early as the bedroom joins the kitchen. As you walk past the neighbours property, I found them quite intrusive. Given that I was on my holiday I wanted a relaxing time, not the guy constantly coming out to see what I was doing, pretending to polish his car for the millionth time that week. After long days on our bikes (it’s a very good location for Sherwood Forest pines and Sherwood Forest) the sofas were so uncomfortable to sit on. We were due to stay for a week and we left after 5 days because my back was in bits.

We spent a relaxing week here as a base, as we moved into a new house in Bolsover.

With two cats and an elderly Mum, it could have been quite stressful but having this beautiful, peaceful cottage to return to every day meant the move was really smooth. It was truly a home from home and offered a wonderful sense of calm and comfort - a real life saver. We were made to feel so welcome with a lovely hamper and fresh flowers. The cottage was beautifully appointed and felt relaxing and happy, surrounded by countryside views and the vineyards. Not to mention a couple of chatty chickens by the car. It was safe, very comfortable and offered a true sanctuary from the stress of moving house. I left my iPad on the bin in the rush of packing up and was so relieved to be able to collect it two days later safe and sound from the very courteous owners. Thank you!
