Snaptrip says

The Coach House is a cosy and comfortable cottage in the Scottish Borders, appreciated for its cleanliness, warm atmosphere, and friendly owners. Guests have enjoyed the convenient village location with local amenities and the property's suitability for exploring the surrounding areas. While some guests mentioned minor issues with facilities and pet restrictions, the overall experience has been positive, with several guests expressing a desire to return.

Guests that stayed at this property said

The majority of guests found the cottage to be extremely clean and well-maintained, with only a few remarks about tired furnishings. The high standard of cleanliness, especially noted during the COVID-19 pandemic, suggests that the property is generally kept in excellent condition.

The location is highly praised for its convenience to local shops and as a base for exploring the area. The village's amenities and the proximity to walking routes and beaches are appreciated. However, some guests noted the lack of private parking and street noise as minor drawbacks.

Guests describe the cottage as cosy, warm, and comfortable, with a particularly comfy bed. However, comments about the small bathroom, dark kitchen, and some uncomfortable furniture suggest that while the overall comfort is good, there is room for improvement.

The cottage is equipped with necessary amenities, but guests have pointed out the absence of certain items like a cafetiere and washing machine, and some have found the kitchen dark and the seating tired. The lack of a dedicated parking space and restrictions for pets in the garden have also been mentioned.

Several guests mentioned thoughtful touches, such as a welcome pack and a doggy goody bag, although one guest noted the absence of the latter. While these gestures are appreciated, they appear to be inconsistent, and future guests should note that such extras, while delightful, are not guaranteed.

About this property

A semi-detached, stone-built cottage, converted from a stable block, on the main street of the village of Chirnside, Berwickshire, close to Berwick-upon-Tweed. Set in the grounds of the owner's home, this welcoming Scottish cottage in the Borders offers a charming interior, ideal for a romantic break or for exploring the beaches, cliffs, coastline and history of this peaceful location. After parking up on the roadside, head into the cottage where you can unwind on the plush sofa in the living room while your partner pampers you with a delicious meal prepared in the well-equipped kitchen/diner. Savour the meal together at the intimate dining table where you can pop open a bottle of fizz to toast your romantic getaway or step outside to the private patio where you can indulge in an alfresco affair with the help of the barbecue. When the sky darkens over Chirnside head back inside to enjoy a soothing soak in the bathroom before sloping off for a restful sleep in the sumptuous king-size bed. Enjoy a romantic retreat at The Coach House. Note: This property can be booked with Ref. 3663, together sleeping 9 guests.

Chirnside takes its name from the ancient Cairn that stood on a hill to the east of the village. It is perched on the ridge between the historic, walled town of Berwick-on-Tweed and Duns, overlooking the Tweed Valley and the distant Cheviots. The village itself is incredibly picturesque and prides itself on its many beautiful gardens. 8 miles away, you'll find the glorious, sandy beaches of Coldingham and Eyemouth, with its working harbour. Nearby attractions also include Maderston, Mellerstain, Paxton House and Ayton Castle. The grounds of the Hirsel ad Duns Castle Estate are also open to the public, as is St Abbs Head; a nature reserve run by the National Trust. The River Tweed provides fantastic opportunities for fishermen, walkers and bird-watchers and there is much evidence of the region's historic and turbulent past to be found in the spectacular countryside.

We found the kitchen/ dinning area very dark ( almost unusable after sunset) with insufficient lighting as a result,we had to go out a buy some portable lighting to help compensate. We found the coach house overall was a little smaller than we expected. We also found the traffic noise that started about 0500hrs Dailey fairly annoying. Finally, we thought the seating in the lounge very tired and not too comfortable. However. We did enjoy our holiday especially Spittal beach.
