What our customers say about their holidays

    • Marc - Verified booking

      Super impressed

We were super impressed with this gorgeous estate. It easily held our large group of 21 people, with a few younger beds to spare. There was a huge dining room to feed a large group. It might’ve been nicer to have a slightly bigger kitchen with more stove space. But we made it work well in any case. The on property manager was spectacular! Thank you Terri! The regular property manager, John, was a really good communicator. He let us know and offered some great alternatives when we found out that the pool was not working. I don’t think we got to adequately explore the entire estate tho. It is big with lots of walking trails. There’s a little waterfall. A Glorious stream. I wish I still played soccer or something for the huge field. I loved the inside game room with darts and the giant pool table and foosball table. The salon had a wonderful window for relaxing. It made a great social gathering place. The beds were comfortable. The rooms felt spacious. The bathrooms were quirky like I’ve come to expect at vacation rentals in the UK. They worked great. The location was really good. It was about 25 minutes from Dunoon. There are several restaurants that are easy, less than 30 minutes driving distance. With excellent food! I can think of nothing bad about the place. It truly was fantastic.

      Great escape

The house is a great escape being on a remote loch side location with lawn running down to the water front. The house inside feels much grander than the photo impression of a small dormer bungalow. The children loved the pool and was great for the adults for a morning swim. The pool is about 30ft long and about 4ft to 8ft deep. The pool shower lights up with blue LED's. You feel that you have your own holiday complex. The only issue is the 3 mile drive is quite rough. We managed with a Mazda 3 with a couple of scrapes. At least is keeps out people just having a snoop around! The new caretakers are friendly and helpful and live about 100m from the property. The owner also greeted us on our arrival. The caretaker Andy took our children out on the boat to see seals and to go fishing, which the children really loved. If your party desires complete isolation from other people this property may not be for you. If we were to go again we would get a certificate so we could use the boat. This would have transformed the whole holiday as it would have given us much more freedom to explore the area including going across to Tarbet to go shopping, site seeing and go to reasturants and bars with no need for a car.

      Memorable weekend

What can I say! We spent the weekend here for my husband 60th birthday and it was perfect. It is so well equipped and the linen in the bedrooms is luxurious. The photographs do not do this place justice! It is far bigger than it looks and all the quirky touches with antiques etc make it sensational. We were a group from 73 years young to 4 and whilst the weather wasn't too kind and we didn't use the football pitch or outdoor amenities no-one got bored. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. The housekeepers and owner were so helpful and welcoming. We particularly enjoyed the large drawing room with the log fire and piano where our guitar and piano playing family kept us entertained. The billiard room and TV kids TV room was well used. Despite the size of the house it is toasty warm and the equipment in the kitchen is plentiful. The furniture is antique and in keeping with this beautiful house. There is absolutely nothing I can say to improve on this house. We had the most memorable weekend and will talk about it forever. Very many thanks for allowing us to share this wonderful house which is steeped in history. We also used the catering available and the food was delicious and plentiful.

We booked Riechip around 4 months ago after our original booking for another property was cancelled.

We realised when we booked Riechip that it was a Hunting Lodge and not luxurious accommodation with many facilities, which was reflected in the price so our expectations were not high. In the end Riechip slightly exceeded expectations. We had 14 adults and 2 infants so both the dining room and the living room were more than big enough for our gatherings. With 3 showers and 3 WCs there was never any conflict. Some of the rooms had hand basins. The kitchen was big enough to allow cooking for 14 and there were more than sufficient plates and glasses etc. Having 2 fridges, 2 freezers and 2 dishwashers was definitely a bonus. The view from the lounge was spectacular. Overall Riechip was comfortable but some of the decor, furniture and facilities were getting a little tired. If like us you do not have high expectations you can have a great holiday here, particularly if you have a large party, with the ability to sit out front and admire the view or to travel further up the hill to the isolated loch on the moor. In summary we had a great holiday and if looking for a large property competitively priced, to get away from it all, in future we would certainly consider Riechip.
